You're right, I forgot to mention that button is just overall much better outside of the lifesteal boost. There's nothing worse than seeing your teammates jump on what they think is a vulnerable Viper only for them to restore to full off of the cleave.

The best play is to get clear, but also to block line of sight for the Slither - if they realize you're trying to back away, they can easily Slither towards you and the Backlash will still connect in time. Some more adept Vipers will follow up Snake Scales into LB, and that burst damage from the Backlash and the World-swallower
can top them off and really tear into you if you let them do it.
