Healers are only fun during prog for me, after that once every bit of damage is optimized for healing and mitigation it becomes a chore.

That said, I hated healing raids in wow, it felt so ass to press big raidwide heals and only hit like 7 out of 20 people and they barely even healed 10% of their HP. In WoW it's like non-stop healing almost the entire fight. I kind of prefer the half DPS half heal rotation FFXIV has where there's a bit of downtime between damage. I do like M+ healing though, since it's less aoe heal spam and more like single target priority healing. The most fun I had was holy paladin because they actually had to DPS in order to heal and it was done well IMO (during DF).

Tank healing is literally not the problem when fucking VDH(tank spec in WoW) in WoW heals just as much as any healer does. The ENCOUNTERS do not do enough outgoing damage to warrant the healing tools each healer job has. That is the problem and what need to change. You give every single boss in every difficulty random pulsing AOE damage that happens for 10-15 seconds straight you’ll be using your healing tools more often than not. They’d also have to tone down mitigation strength so you can’t just over mitigate everything and basically negate the damage. That means crit spreadlo would need to be giga nerfed alone with tank party mits and Addle/Feint would need nerfs as well.

Because in japanese they don't have the rankings for each spell numbered like we do (Fire I, Fire II, Fire III, Fire IV) instead it's Fire, Fira, Firaga, and Firaja.

In this case, Glare is "Gurea" and the next step would be "Gureara" which sounded weird to them so they went to "Gureaga" which, if they follow the same translations with other spells, would be III and not II.

Same with Holy. Holy I is "Hori" and Holy II would be "Horira" which sounds really weird and unnatural to japanese people so they went to "Horiaga" instead which makes it Holy III to us lol.

These are all made up spell names of course but it's at least consistent across the FF games but FFXIV has had to create new rankings of a few spells on their own. I remember Yoshi-P talking about this in a LL once. I think he was talking about black mage flare star and said they were thinking of a "Fire V" type name but couldn't think of a good one. Any addition they make is likely to be permanent going forward with the franchise so he can't just make random shit up without putting thought into it.

Oh, M8 normal has a very similar mechanic and even now if you queue for it there's a decent chance a few people die due to lack of healing and then the 2 wolf heads are right after that. I remember hitting enrage in that adds phase in normal mode multiple times because people kept dying, especially the healers themselves.

The solution is quite literally cutting a few OGCDs and replacing them with dps buttons.

MW monk has had its moments. In WoD I would fistweave for the first minute or two of a raid boss fight. My raid healing would be at the bottom of the healers but just barely, but it allowed me to get 20 stacks of mana tea very quickly which then allowed me to dump expensive healing spells because I had endless mana for the rest of the fight.

In dragonflight it was actually viable, if not BiS for M+ for a bit. The damage they dealt was decent and you could easily keep the party alive but it was more like DPSing would aoe heal and then you'd do random single target spot healing here and there.

Disc priest was weird in raids though. It feels like being oracle in FFXIV with "phantom rejuvination" which is a heal that takes 20 seconds to go off. That's what atonement healing in a raid feels like. You gotta know the damage is coming like 10-20 seconds ahead of time to prepare all your buffs on the party and then burst your damage on the boss as the raid damage goes out. If there is no target then you do jack shit for healing lol. It's kind of like how SGE is in PVP right now.

I disagree, but I do believe that's where the story got mismanaged. They wanted to close the Primal / Ascian shit, but left a huge plot hole with Garlemald open since Stormblood. Along with so many subregions we could explore too than Thavnair. Instead, we get a rushed ass story with Garlemald that basically says they mostly killed themselves in a civil war and Zenos / Fandaniel won that. Then it turned into some greater threat of "some emo bird going to kill us all."

Like HUH?!!!! I rather have a nice drawn out conclusion to the Garlemald story and wrapped up with the Meteion threat in the post-Endwalker section. Not trying to cram two expansion's worth of stories into one.
