You could always grind to win in Souls games ever since DeS and you could always run through enemies without issues, which is why they finally accepted boss runbacks were dogshit in ER and gave you Marika's juicy steaks to get rid of the tedium while still having proper navigation.
Not to mention ER having actual enemies for a change rather than sandbags and sandbags with an HP bar and a name.
