how is Square Enix doing badly exactly? FF16 sold multiple millions of units. Didn't fail. The only time SE said they were disappointed by weak sales is FF7 Remake Part 2. Even Kingdom Hearts 3 and Dragon Quest 3 Remake sold wonderful.
