Honestly, there are a lot of examples of self-censorship in games published by Square Enix for some reason. Unlike companies like Inti Creates, Pqube and Compile Heart which have run into issues thanks to the platfolm holders themselves, Square Enix has published a lot of censored games but it wasn't becuase Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft said ''you have to censor or change this''...as far as we know, the censorship of Trials of Mana (the remake), Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake etc are games that they wanted to censor to appeal to a bigger audience (or something) but not because one of the platform holders forced them to.

This is enforced by western shareholders

I know people have been throwing around "DEI" a lot lately, but it's a real thing.

Investment firms literally tell game devs "we won't invest in your game unless you meet our nigger quota, and follow all these rules like no cleavage".

The devs have no choice. This is how modern capitalism works, shareholders control game development (and basically everything else).

That's why I like to play japanese games with japanese voices. With a handful of subbed anime under your belt, you'll start to notice discrepancies between scripts.

Well it's the same problem FF13 had. The good FFs have a lot of ups and downs. Before you got to Temple of the Ancients you had a moment of levity at the Gold Saucer. So you can feel the difference in tone. When its all melodrama all the time it eventually starts to run together and making characters dramatically cry is not going to make an impact after 3 hours of brooding

The real question is will gamers learn to NOT buy Square Enix games? Because from what I see their shitty games keep selling wonderful. Look at the remake of the recent Dragon Quest. And don't give me nothing Final Fantasy 7 Remake is overall selling decent. Square Enix is not losing cash on this project. And whenever Kingdom Hearts 4 rears its ugly head it will sell one hundred million units because you gamers are addicts.

Don't know about the rest of you my reason for liking anime is simply because I think anime has cooler looking character designs and the female characters legit look attractive. You think any boy back in the day wanted to waste an erection on ugly ass angular gemetric shit like Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends compared to the skanks from Pokemon? Fast forward to modern day which do you think is considered more visually appealing ugly ass Adventure Time or Full Metal Alchemist. Anime simply has a universal attractive art style for itself. That gives it the advantage.

Western shit has always looked ugly. Westerners exceed at doing furries and even then the Asians are better furry artists. Westerners only had years of success without competition. That's what it is. America never had competition until Nintendo consoles brought Asian games and anime exploded with Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball. That was the end of the west. And good riddance.

Nomura barely had control. He was present since FFIV but his influence was superficial, even if it continued to increase up to FFX, he got the Kingdom Hearts project but only really came back in FF7 Remake.

FFXII was a failure, FFXIII was a failure, FFXIV 1.0 was a failure, FFXV was a critical failure.

The best FF games are FF 1-6,11,12.

Basically any game with Kitase, Nomura, Nojima, Yoshi-p at the helm is a terrible game.

For me, my issue is about balance. I don't have an issue with "ugly" or rough looking women in games depending on aesthetic and tone. Final Fantasy is a far different feel than say Fallout. Which itself is a different feel than something like Mass Effect. Where I start to get annoyed is when people start to treat it as an all or nothing deal. Where even an over the top game can't have over the top designs to go with it.

Most likely going to skip every FF game from now on, literally didn't like any FF game ever since 13 and that was like 16 fucking years ago, i gave SE so many chances, I didn't even like Rebirth and that game was praised by many people.

I've only played XB1 and 2. I really like them both and I'll be moving on to 3 eventually. But there's a few things that piss me off like how often they rely on RNG for extra quests. Still they keep that feeling of going on a grand adventure with a bunch of weirdos, which I appreciate. I just wish the games didn't run like shit.
