This is catastrophic. Why are FFXIV posters still adamant the game is the greatest MMORPG of all time?

With the final Playerscope scrape showing the player count at 300k and the recent Financial Report confirming a 45% loss in profits for XIV what can be done to save this game? What does 8.0 need to bring players back? Is the game too far gone or is there still hope?
