The one thing the Alien series has always fumbled the ball on is: what happens after the aliens win? what do they want long term? where do they go from there? I love Aliens, but it really just had them fall into hibernation after they won over the colonists. Prometheus would just have them turn into structures and the landscape. Alien was going to have it either die off with a short life cycle or also go to sleep and pretend to be human to trick another ship into picking it up. I think it'd be neat if they took over a real inhabited planet, they'd turn it into a giger-esque hellscape. And be intent on continuing to spread so they'd create their own interstellar semi-organic ships to launch into space

Supposed to be a different path of evolution. It's parasitic, partly inorganic, and goes through multiple forms as it's growing. Space Jockeys wanted to study them since they're interesting. Never bioweapons and certainly not perfect.
