I think that's probably right (although I disagree that religio doesn't have supernatural elements). Europe has already been going in that direction prior to Hitler for a while, but without fully ridding itself of the yahwist influences fully. Military parade grounds were, and in some places still are, called "fields of Mars", we have shrines to those who fell in service of the state, etc. etc.
Europe still does some of these ceremonies today, but it has none of the spirit in it because nobody takes anything seriously and everything is fake and gay.
