The only reason the idea of moving out at 18 or soon after even exists in America is the economic boom after WWII that the Baby Boomers chiefly took advantage of. Huge growing suburbs, good paying manufacturing jobs. A man could move out of his house at 18, get a factory or plant job, maybe join a union, get married, have a few kids, make payments on a decent one story house in the suburbs, a couple cars and a take yearly vacation all without ever going to college for a day.
But here is the thing, it is 2025 and that day is dead. That world is 100% dead and gone. Today I would say it is fine to live with your parents or other family. Nothing wrong with it, it is an expression of what the old idea of family is and should be, it was the Boomers that rebelled against it (because they had the luxury of being able to.) Could you imagine working at Subway or something and trying to buy a house with your spouse, have a couple kids, buy a car, maybe have to pay for health insurance. It is laughably impossible and it isn't even close and we all know it.
