Yep, though later with Riley and even Ash it was shown that artifacts aren't really necessary but probably help a lot, like wands for mages instead of the ki-like system every author writing auraslop uses.

So yeah, aura wouldn't turn you into a saiyan but more like a jedi canon tho because Legends gets ridiculous and you'll die if used too much
