I thought jews were supposed to be clever.

Anyone have any ideas on a new way to make renewable sand without needing to use a bug or exploring for hours on end?
I mean from a design perspective for future updates.
What kind of game mechanic would make sense as a way to "grow sand"?
I think updates that normalize certain bugs in the form of unique new content might be a way to incentive Mojang into making better updates. Many Mojang employees have voiced they want to implement features that make bugs obsolete. One of the Java coders said explicitly that "growing sand" would need to be a critical part of patching together a tighter progression system so I've been trying to gather ideas on the concept.
Implementing a way to grow sand would make TNT significantly more reasonable to "farm" instead of traveling miles or using glitches to duplicate it. Again, it would also help tighten progression if "growing sand" would be noticeably a real incentive to make large amounts of TNT.
I know at least one of you has tought of this dilemma.
Please understand I am sincerely trying to find a solution to a problem that even Mojang is trying to solve.
I just want deeper content updates and stuff like this keeps them from messing with the overall survival progression, which is in sore need of repair.
