The first written down dialect was from the Thessaloniki area, if that's what you mean.
The literary tradition started in medieval Bulgaria, if that's what you mean.
The most speakers are of Russian, if that's what you mean.

But I think you mean the "slavic gene", which is just the western steppe gene, and it coincides with where many slavis speakers live today. Obviously the slavs in the mountains have less of that, they aren't steppe people.
The "slavic gene" only superficially coincides with slavic speakers.
