That was literally the whole point behind the Matrix. It was supposed to be this whole world that spanned a bunch of different forms of media and was all going to be a common narrative. Movies, video games, TV series, graphic novels, I wouldn't doubt they wanted to do a radio show and Broadway play. The movies were the only ones to get any traction. But yeah. It was supposed to be all one big project.
