Unless they're working alongside the police(or at least following as harsh protocols for sting operations as they do) and doing nothing to the pedos but shaming and reporting pedo hunters unironically help pedos.
The spergout ones who go in punching genuinely give them an easy get out of jail card to play in court. Not that they care about predators going to jail, it's all about clout and going apeshit in a morally acceptable way.
Basically modern pedo hunters aren't even worth being in the shade of the OG Chris Hansen.
