When I go in blind I go with choices that I would make to see what ending fits me more, but on repeat runs or when I know a bit about the game before playing I try to imagine a character beforehand
Honestly imagining a character for Nanashi made my first apoc run way better because I knew that I wanted to do the Massacre route but still would have the peanut gallery with me most of the game so I made Nanashi be basically neutral in the choices basically making him a rude guy that you could still see the others not hating, I also tried to always be nice to Asahi just because I thought it made sense since they were childhood friends, didn't know she got chomped at one point but that also helped the character I was going for because after that I just went 100% in the Dagda is right path, also made the choice of megami to tensei easy
