I'm talking about before Waltz. Waltz is what they had to resort to because they failed. Literally just spoonfeeding the audience on the way he thinks so they can set up what they do to him for the rest of the show. And even that episode fails because it shows he actually does have a conscious and self-awareness that until that point you could have assumed he actually bought into his delusions 100%
