this is nothing new. some people are not able to separate wacky shit happening and the serious implications of what is being said. It is a reason picrel became a meme and everyone completely ignored the context behind the scene and just said shit like "haha fake laugh sounds so corny! the voice acting is so lame!"
even when normies do get the difference in tone they are not able to handle it. my brother refuses to watch dandadan after episode 7 because he thought the series is supposed to be completely wacky and funny then got hit with Silky's backstory.
