Honestly it got worse, and then weird.
My mom was saying she was scared of my dad killing her or the rest of us (I work from home at my parents house lol, and my single mom sister is here too with her nephew) and that got me infectiously paranoid, there's a comical amount of guns in our house because of my dad and we're a red state. At one point while my mom was out my dad took the door off the master bedroom and drove off with it. I guess because he was tired of living in the basement while my mom took the bedroom. I told her she should probably get an apartment because the police won't act and I don't think they should be under the same roof. She agreed, and then the next day she came home and was like "I need like $6000 for a place and I don't have that money". Which was baffling because there apartments nearby that would be a $900 deposit and are available day of basically. So I think she just decided she didn't want to go through with that. My dad had put the door back on by then so she just took the room again.
And now they're acting basically amicable around each other. I don't feel comfortable talking to either of them anymore because I can't believe what either of them say anymore. I know the divorce is still happening because my dad was served papers recently. I think they've committed to touching up the house and selling it and just not getting in each others' way in the meantime.
I don't really want to interact with them anymore until this is all over. My biggest fear now is if I haven't already been obligated to move out by Christmas. It's nice to save money from not renting. But I really don't want to be here anymore. There's a friend I know a couple hours away I'm in contact with who is also looking to move out, but he's kinda bad at committing to stuff. I might have to just pull the trigger on a 2br apartment and then entice him to sublet/colease afterwards, to make it easier for him.
