Honestly anon just keep at it. It’s a start that you’re drawing from life, as you’ll improve much faster that way. Heads from life are especially hard. I find that studying Loomis alongside drawing heads from life will yield good results. Though I don’t usually use the Loomis method when drawing heads from life, it’s useful for proportions and how to manipulate the head as a 3D shape, as well as good draftsmanship in general. So maybe before drawing your mom, draw a couple of female Loomis heads first to train yourself, ya know? Also, make sure to draw every day, even if it’s a little.
