I played it for the first time only last year modded on PC. It's an unforgettable game.
What do you like in a Final Fantasy? The story? The battle system? The music?
Depending on your tastes, you might really like those things in XIII.
But are you looking for deep customization, lots of towns, or extensive exploration of open spaces?
You won't find that much in XIII. FFXIII is all about strapping in for the ride.
It's a movie game with really great music and (I think) a very good story.

FF8 had the best airship design in the entire series. I will die on this hill, yes the game was not very good, but the airship design kicked ass.
