How would you make armor units good without being OP when their class is designed to make them nigh invincible? a lot of people don't like them because their lack of mobility but fixing that breaks and ruins the class concept.
Giving them some form of other utility? FEH has given them a bunch of interesting tools, such as the armor march, charge, fighter, and save skills, but those might not translate well into a mainline game.
