I have this recurring mahjong dream where I have an ankou of haku in my hand. At some point I draw the fourth haku, but I don't kan it, keeping it instead, and suddenly I draw the fifth haku. It seems weird at first, but I decide to keep it and then I draw like a regular tile and suddenly there's another haku. I usually either wake up or my dream changes before I complete an entirely white hand. I had this dream like three times now.

>save pictures from imageborards cataloged by year
>suddenly realize there's a 2026 folder next to 2025
>I've been jumping between 2025 and 2026, because I quite honestly can't tell what year we have right now without checking it
It's only gonna get worse, isn't it?

I'm not sure I even like this game anymore, but I keep coming back to it. I just can't figure out why I find it so appealing. Is it because of the adrenaline rush whenever I'm in tenpai? I just need to get my fix? The more valuable the hand, the more alive I feel, even though at the end of the day I'm just wasting time for some imaginary points that will disappear on the inevitable end of service.
I kinda understand why the Nipponese derived the verb テンパる to describe not only being in tenpai, but also being extremely excited, because I can also feel this excitement, but I kinda wish I never felt it in the first place, since now I became a slave to these weird Chinese tiles.
