No, nigger. The crew of the Nostromo were space truckers, there's a reason why they weren't hyper competent when going up against an alien bioweapon. And even then, they at least knew to wear masks and gloves in surgery lol.
But the crew in this episode is specifically charged with capturing and transporting these known alien threats and they act like stupid children. The engineer apprentice is straight out of Simple Jack. The doctor eats in the lab and doesn't properly secure the specimens.
It's just lazy writing to have horror things happen.
