I honestly never understood the *gulp* scene from prometheus.

if they landed on the barren earth and seeded it with life in general, then why the 4 billion year delay and side quest into dinosaurs until humans finally arrived?

and if they landed on earth only a few million years ago to specifically create humans, then the human genome anomaly from all other life on earth would've been discovered easily, long before the alien franchise even kicks off

neither of these 2 scenarios make sense.

like a living giger painting. it would be biomechanical in nature, unclear what their origins of as either a designed on purpose by somebody or something that was designed but evolved into something else within its biomechanical ecosystem.

the world itself would be completely alien. unbreathable air, unsurvivable pressures and temperatures without hardened exosuits for humans

something like a super Venus concealing Giger world under its thick atmosphere. Hell, you could very easily structures a classic Alien movie around this with a deep space human crew coming across signals emitting from the uninhabitable world. Even soft retcon ridleys big bald men as another species created for specific purpose of seeding earth likes across the cosmos for unknown purposes. That came in variety of version like the much larger and permanently fused to its chair space jockey from alien 1 that was not bipedal

Nope.
They just retconned it recently. The Jockeys didn't actually create the black goo that spawned the xenos. They merely found it from fossilized remnants of ancient ones as they searched for their own origins, mirroring the premise of Prometheus. They subsequently reproduced the goo in their own labs and repeated the xeno cycle in different ways. The general idea Ridley's trying convey here is that all multicellular life in the universe came from the xenos and eventually becomes the xenos no matter how long it takes. Their ultimate origin remains unclear, but it's supposed to be a way of "fixing" the franchise by keeping the aliens' beginnings a mystery, almost Lovecraftian.
Also, the Yautja (AKA Predators) are involved somehow.

>evolution is a conscious being and cares for the planet
evolution just means the best adapted beings to a given environment procreates the most and passes on their specific genetic mutations. we have seen invasive species destroy ecosystems, humanity itself has caused nature to change all around it and has become a species capable of destroying all life on earth.
if evolution can allow for intelligence to be mutated to that degree that it can destroy the planet. why can't it allow for blood to be mutated to that degree ??
where is this limitation coming from ??

well I guess you can hand wave that they had a strict hand off approach and saw the seeded planets as sterile incubators. Seed it and see what happens. most of the 4 billion years was spent as single cells anyway until the mitochondria revolution happened which allowed for eventual multi cells. Dinos are a mere short chapter in it and even more so the human monkey

thank god the jesus crap never made it off the cutting room floor so at least you can now build that reason engineers started interfering on earth was the emergence of homo sapiens, a species close to them. Also reason for wanting to terminate earth immediately was that they were developing far too quickly and would become space born in short time (for cosmic scales engis operate on). Which they did not want for humans, and piggy backing earth life like bacteria inside human bodies, to escape their designated incubator

making xenos the center of the universe is retarded as hell. at its core its an aggressive parasitic predator that barely can use basic tools and is physically incapable of every achieving space flight without somebody carrying them around

its biochemistry is exceptional but no way in hell should xenos be the be all, end all of it. Even if they are useful bugs for refining the black blood mutagen which is most certainly the basis of biomechanica. Xenos should be one of many creatures from whatever place it originated from

Cosmic horrors from ages past lying in wait

Not this faggoty-ass โ€œmuh engineersโ€ and them being responsible for everything like itโ€™s a fucking Marvel franchise film

Yesterday we've had a delicious thread about Blame! on /v/ where numerous Blame!-like games were posted, video game fags are eating good compared to us /tv/ & /co/ fags. Together with that we've reference countless other IPs inspiring from Brutalist architecture and a very obvious artist. Tsutomu Nihei an architecturefag inspires from HR Giger who was also into architecture and numerous other inspirations such as Beksinski. Giger's Shaft is inspired from Brutalist and where Nihei inspired from among the obvious black armour from the xenomorph.

Builders are gigantic robotic automatons that auto-generate the city.
Centuries before the manga opens, when the Administration first lost control of the Safeguards, they also lost control of the Builders. Without any authority to control them or provide them instructions, the Builders have continued building the City since then, creating newer and bigger structures as time passed. However, over time the Builders' programming has degraded, and most of them build entirely random structures with no intended purpose in mind. This is why the City is filled with bizarre, pointless features, such as staircases that go nowhere or straight hallways barred by a door every foot. Do you know who else was an architect and mathematician and created the equivalent of surrealism art? MC Escher.

Then you have Warframe's lore that mimics the space jockeys & engineers. The Orokin discovered the flesh beings known as Warframes and The Tenno are controlling the warframes telepathetically to act as proxy mercenary fleshrobots that have powers & ninja-like skills. Tenno sit in a chair as they control the warframes.
A species of Flood-like beings called "The Infested" were utilized by The Orokin to create the warframes.

I think the lack of respect for lore/mystery is connected to the rise in autism and stay-at-home-binge-watching culture. People don't want to speculate with other fans, write their own canon, or just enjoy the mystery. They just want to hoover up as much as possible if they like a franchise/setting and like a swarm of locusts will move on if there's nothing new to consume.

And on the corporate side they'll keep milking franchises until they're dry even though from a creative POV they really should put most existing franchises on the backburner until dinosaurs or xenomorphs or jedi or whatever seem mysterious and cool again.

>>212444607

I mean, that's sort of the point. The protagonists are just normal blue-collar people. If you had good prospects you wouldn't be a space trucker, a colonial marine, or an indentured worker on an isolated colony. The xenomorphs wouldn't even be all that dangerous waiting on isolated rocks in space if (((Weyland-Yutani))) didn't keep sending out people to find them.

This would be neat, but the entire problem is it does not work as a movie for theaters. Audiences want something easy to digest, with a recognizable structure, don't think about too much, good guys win, bad guys lose, wrapped up in 2 hours. These intricate, complex, expansive worlds with slow exploration and time to play out are best enjoyed as a game where it can have as much time as it needs. And it knows that it's being interacted with by people who are interested in the subject matter so it can be a complicated as it needs too.

If Ridley wanted to finish his David tale, or if there were another director with a story he's passionate to tell, he unironically should make a game of it. It's really stupid and ancient thinking to view games as lesser when the movie medium is utter trash tier now and very insufficient for good stories.

AvP1 the movie is based off a comic book from Dark Horse, it's ironic how even the cheesy comic books from Dark Horse seem more canon and less canon-breaking than Ridley Scott's "My robot has daddy issues since Blade Runner and keeps boasting about shit you people never even saw" but when it comes to showing me those amazing things Ridley saw we get nothing but more murder robots when Ridley doesn't have a book & script readily adapted for him to smudge all over it.

Speaking of comic book adaptions did any of you read Alien Labyrinth?

It's what the actual good AVP2 is based off of (among many other inspirations) , but Einsenberg's story is much more vanilla compared to what happened in Labyrinth.
https://youtu.be/-latIFZ6xyA?t=1327

Also I really enjoyed the backstory in Labyrinth, but the current story of what happened to the doctor afterwards and how they attempted to once again make the xenomorphs behave like animals rather than autistic robots was idiotic, but that's comic books for you; some great ideas and the rest stuff you should ignore. Similar to how Brandywine & Fox saw the original script by Dan O Bannon. 1 idea that really stuck with them and the rest they ignored.

I think the idea that the xenomorphs naturally live in an electromagnetic surrealistic megastructure full of mecha calcified tunnels can tie in with their heightened sense at maneuvering labyrinths. Their perfect hybridization of bone and metal can explain their talented autistic tendencies of being extremely adept at niche things such as sixth sense and navigation yet extremely dumb in general things such as tools and grabbing rocks to throw at creatures, seeing no purpose in it and "feeling" almost disgusted at the notion such as a Predator utilizing human tools, just like a robot attempting to use a toilet.

>singular cohesive canon
As nice as that has been I don't think that it's going to be how things go for this stuff anymore. Look at literally any fandom right now and they are all filled with headcanon copers who view the entries they dislike as apocrypha. Star Wars, 40k, Star Trek, Alien, Predator, etc etc etc all have so much shit pumped out by their supposed custodians that nobody cares anymore and everyone has a different idea for what is beneficial for the canon.

In a way we are heading back to the way things used to be. There was no singular corporation controlling who told stories about Robin Hood or how. They were just iterated upon by anyone who wanted to add onto it and the good things stuck as the folklore evolved and the bad contributions were forgotten.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

That says right there that The Perfected(created by the Engineers) and the Engineers themselves DID NOT CREATE the alien form - Destroying Angels. They found it. They're going to make Amanda into some boss bitch that's fought and defeated the alien dozens of times like her mother. It was her destiny to always fight them until she dies! >it does not work as a movie for theaters.
Depends what audience you're aiming for and how you execute it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgZccxuj2RY&ab_channel=JanusFilms
It "can" work with it in the background or minimal or people taking the world for granted. Flow has shown it works. Blame! has shown that it kinda. The point is you have to keep things moving and keep your audience's attention. Most modern people do not enjoy mute films, mute not only in dialogue but mute in action, they need a balance of action and a face to attach themselves to even a mute cat is enough as long as the cat does actions and the environment and the cat react to each other.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCK9I1l7kVM&ab_channel=LambdogComicschannel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffxo_6Cg0Cw&ab_channel=MITHO

Most people prefer to be silver tongued rather than thinking more than their subconscious allows them to. It's why Hollywood took control and why "foreign" films from Britain, France, Germany are so badly regarded for their lack of cinematography and pizzaz. They feel pointless for they are pointless and make 1 point without developing on it. It's why the Hollywood jew won, and also cause Hollywood stole all the talent for it had money/dollar bills to back it up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShGElGusepA&ab_channel=OtaKingAnimation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YC3XHCDyy0&ab_channel=RollinBoy
I've seen countless fan films and they all have the same problem as foreign films. They cannot keep your attention worth a damn. Most Hollywood films have a combination of attention-grabbing interests, entertainment and making the audience ask "what happens next?" and "I want more of that entertainment" most redneck non-sociopath autistic artists who never worked with people do not understand how to capture the audience's attention cause they're natural introverts who often times develop an ego too big for their own good and do not know how to sell an idea.

And not so much an ego or arrogance through shyness and more-so the fact they live isolated all their life and think their 1 inexperienced idea they cannot execute/translate worth a damn is amazing, exactly like grabbing an overly emotional redneck who never saw a city and not understanding what people enjoy about cities. No education in how to grab the audience's attention. Just like putting a drawfag to tell a story and a writefag to draw appealing art. That's why you need a school to educate you on demographic appeal which have all but dissipated since 2008. It's why it's so important to be a jack of all trades else you end up forgotten. It's why Fox was so reluctant with Alien when everybody knew 70s horror was nothing but low-budget slop by amateurs and the opposite of something serious. Most big-time directors said no, most big-time actors also said no. They knew horror was a bad niche that attracts nothing but crap so it was refreshing when Alien didn't turn out to be crap... its production was crap on a lot of levels devolving into Alien 3's culmination of the biggest crap production.
It is a taught and natural talent to grab audience's attention by using basic natural and common things the human brain understands and appreciates. It is stupid to go against it and then blame the idea & the audience because you're an inexperienced stubborn autist that doesn't understand basic human psyche.

It's also inspired from Species 2 where they say the minor aliens are meant to be a bioweapon that overpopulates and kills everything on the planet and the remaining aliens die leaving a husk of a planet called Mars. In Species 1 they come up with the idea that an advanced species does not even dabble in wormholes, let alone space travel, but instead they send messages and some of those messages could be viruses where you teach a dumbass 4channer how to create the black plague and spread it around. Species' alien visualdesign & train dream sequences was handled by Giger.
Of course the question who were the advanced aliens who sent the message to begin with?

Also The Tourist, I need to read it, was also done for Giger. It's too bad Hans Ruedi isn't a writer like Tolkien to give more substance to his art skills beyond visual imagery.

If we can take a step back from the long running theories of the past such as them being the apex predator on their planet the killed everything else or created as bioweapon to kill off a planetary population, what about this for consideration instead: it's also a long running concept that the xenomorph as we've seen it is not the final form and doesn't have to be. I like the scifi stories where the humans stumble into the middle of something far larger than themselves, discover small bits and pieces of it and struggle with those without knowing it gets far more complicated. The overarching makeup of the creatures is organic mixed with inorganic. They don't build singular ships staffed with xeno creatures all getting paid money with families they love back home, etc. They're hivemind creatures that send out spores/eggs into space on really long journeys (which aren't that long to them) towards habitable stars. When sufficiently advanced species stumble upon these spores, they get infected and eventually consumed. Or the spores land on life-filled worlds, whichever. The facehuggers, then xenos, then transformed into further biotechnology eventually using up all the organic mass to create a world suitable for the species as well as a wormhole hub that opens up back to the home system. This is how they colonize worlds and move star to star. The galaxy is big enough that their home system is still far away. The Space Jockeys are just a third party that ran across one of their spores and while studying it inadvertently triggered it before they could take it home. It didn't have enough biomass to do anything. It would be a neat take. The aliens don't have to just be mindless tiger monsters that want to claw everything, then hibernate, and that's all there is to them.

Well let's "conclude" this thread or rather summarize and evolve it.

Aliens must be ran into spin-offs that loosely connect to each other without contradicting. Just like Capcom's Megaman that had its main IP branch into around 5 spin-offs and even spin-offs of spin-offs like Zero into ZX, each spin-off appealing to a different demographic. That way it isn't the same Uncle Ben dies 10 times in a story you already knew. Just like Predator is its own IP and doesn't need Alien to survive off of it and vice versa. Spin offs devoid of Weyland Yutani. Spin offs where aliens aren't their primitive versions. Spin off movies differing in genre from Alien1979 to Aliens1986 to Alien3+Alien4 where they each have a different genre and demographic to cater to.
Spin offs where each Earth and each Xenomorph planet look different. People get to pick which spin off they want.

Aliens live in a surrealist biomechanoid dystopian world full of megastructures. Full of metal, bones, steam. Aliens behave like robots. Take inspiration from MC Escher which is surrealist math porn.
Take Blame!'s idea of the original species losing control and their AI overlords building erratic megastructures the size of Jupiter ad infinitum and silicon creatures being born from the walls, but with a lot more steam and guns and trains and skeleton influences. The megastructures start off Would be interesting if the origin species just evolved on its own rather than a third party alien species cultivating it.
Current xenos are the primitive versions that carry no evolved abilities and weapons. They require a proper host and a proper alien to control them. We take this idea from Warframe.

Could be some bullshit about a nerve gas or some electrical impulse that they could apply to the nest of hybernating xenos and just pluck them off the wall.

if you use bio weapons you do because you want to kill the inhabitants of infrastructure you want to capture intact while having the deployed weapon expire so its safe after a period of time. If you are going for you big scary NOOK-OOK then skip the middle man and burn down the original inhabitants straight up

xenos as bioweapon are stupid and dont stand any criticism once you think about it beyond the surface level

already impossible. Ridleys third grade mystery boxes prometheus and covenant saw to that. this is before the other spin offs like avp or the upcoming crappy earth alien tv thing

its simpler going forward to everybody just do their own thing without connecting anything to other stuff. Everything is shat up already but that does not mean you cant make a decent alien movie with good set pieces and characters even if it is in contradiction to everything else around it

The Alien: Out of the Shadows audiobook. Its set between Alien and Aliens and focuses on a mining colony. I wont go into details but it shows the remains of a whole new species that had encountered the xenomorphs, but does the smart thing and dont spell everything out or explain all the mysteries since the characters only really care about surviving the situation.
The story does feature Ripley in a kind of silly way, and use a gimmick to explain why she doesnt remember everything that happened in the second movie.

Indeed. Out of the comics came out the Predator pyramids, the hybrids, the terminators, humans into synths, the Earth wars, a woman raised by predators, xeno egg silos, xenomorph prime, red xenomorphs, praetorian xenomorphs, friendly synthetic xenomorphs who smoke, biosuits with lazers, the list goes on.
Just like Killer of Killers did ... sadly Dark Horse just like KoK does not understand atmosphere, anticipation, building fully fledged ideas.

The main problem with a comic you are not in charge of is that you have minimal time to evolve your idea in which you also need to tell a story so it is near impossible from that position to create something like Blame! that's an entire world on its own. You don't get to write & art it all yourself. I think most of Dark Horse's comics were only 30 pages each, right? unless you sucked a lot of corporate cock at Dark Horse, but this can all be avoided if 20th Century Fox gave a fuck and hired more than Dark Horse for the comics. Still better than allowing only Archie & IDW in charge of it, fuck those guys. This is why freelance comic artists being contracted individually is the way to go. I never quite liked the cheap artists and font Dark Horse used, it pales in comparison to the covers.

The answers I get on ChatGPT when I ask it to explain the genesis of life get really fucking weird.

>We propose an extension to Penroseโ€™s Conformal Cyclic Cosmology (CCC) in which biogenesis โ€” specifically the emergence of RNA-like replicators โ€” is not a product of stochastic abiogenesis within each aeon, but instead reflects a deep, inherited structural bias embedded in the conformal boundary conditions between aeons.

>In this view, the physical laws and quantum field configurations at the terminal state of one aeon โ€” dominated by massless radiation and gravitational imprints โ€” act as an informational substrate. These inherited constraints do not transmit matter or specific molecules, but rather encode organizational biases that influence the probability landscape of early molecular self-assembly in the succeeding aeon.

Xenos as a bioweapon COULD be perfectly viable IF you genetically modified them to have an expiration date. Say you bomb your enemies with eggs, they hatch, infect, multiply, kill, then after 2 weeks, all your Ayyliums die off. Well that is the plot point of Blade Runner which Ridley wanted to introduce to the Alien but it didn't fit with the final scene... albeit in the final scene Ridley also wanted The Alien to kill Ripley so Ridley wasn't a very objective guy with his ideas. >like every single predatory creature ever?
In real life, there is no animal that just kills everything on-sight. Most predators avoid confrontations at all costs unless they feel threatened. If you unleashed a grizzly bear on a ship, it wouldn't be an Alien situation. The comics (ambiguous canonicity but they're still fresh in the minds of Alien fans) take this even further by showing in an experiment how xenomorphs are so impossibly aggressive that they'll choose to attack a living creature (and not eat it) even when given the choice to eat instead. Their prime instinct is to kill, which isn't how animals work irl. We actually don't even know if xenomorphs EAT, as it's never shown in any film or any material for that matter, so some materials go as far as to say they don't eat at all, making their physiology even more impossible.
>They're not durable whatsoever.
Huh? They're almost unkillable. The flamethrower only pisses it off, it can survive easily in the vacuum of space, and not even the ship thruster at the end of Alien killed it. The only thing that can hurt it are pulse rifles, which are insanely high-caliber. Practically 40k bolters

my headcanon is that there is a planet of primordial goo, which is the ayylmao's origin point. A place in the universe that teems with highly potent and virile life. Engineers didn't conceive it; they found it and then made use of it

The point of xenomorphs is that they mix and match with existing lifeforms, not have a ''home planet'' of their own with culture, architecture, history or some other dumb shit
I dare to say that it fits the IP better than nearly any other explanation

Indeed xenos always come off as weak when you see Predators mauling them easily.
Xenos always face off the weakest opponents namely an incompetent company hiring the most cheapskate of cheapskate workers to throw out the trash. Even Weyland Yutani's "elite" dog hounder soldiers still use those cheapo weapons. The pulse rifle's 9mm casings makes me call out what a tiny penis it has. 9mm is a joke in real life.
The xenomorph's lack of reproduction with each other also makes them come off as incredibly weak and the reason why a parasite by itself cannot be considered perfect. Also if our own viruses haven't wiped out the bacteria then it means viruses are quite weak.

Rewatching Alien 1,2,3,4 we can analyze quickly why xenos are considered weak.
1. Truckers with a traitor among them no less
2. Youngsters/Rookies which killed themselves I shit you not. They killed 8+ marines because they panicked and blew themselves up or flamethrowered themselves. Plus an incompetent general or whatever Gorman was. Plus a traitor among them. Plus environmental factors. Plus "No bullets allowed, roflmao". Plus "Lol no calling for backup. Can't orbital strike despite having the nuke at your disposal". By all logic in an open field even with the incompetent marines they should have killed 150+ Aliens because the Aliens could not reproduce anymore soldiers and they needed the hosts alive(supposedly) , that's why we need to call this first iteration of Cameron aliens highly primitive and not canon for them to even withstand a war against the most incompetent of companies. The Company aka Weyland is also parasitic in nature to the Alien franchise and must be killed off.

Weyland would get its ass kicked by the government or a competent company and not another cheapskate like Seegson Synthetics.
Even Stargate's and Dune's factions which are relatively weak compared to Warhammer would completely whip the floor with Weyland. Only in delusional fanfiction would Weyland ever win.

3. No guns allowed in a prison. I'm surprised the Alien didn't kill them faster or everyone didn't run outside.
4. No acid protection prison cells for the Alien, you can't explain that. And for some reason Aliens are bothered by hot steam (thanks Alien 1).
Everything needs to rebooted, nothing makes sense. It's unfinished fanfiction. The mess of a production is a testament to the pisspoor mismanaged world design and lack of standards. There's no 1 authority, it's nothing but freelancers akin to Weyland Yutani hiring the dumbest freelancers on the cheap.

Let's take hot blonde girls from Metroid & Species and insert them into Aliens. Samus will appreciate fighting something that looks respectable and not a green jellyfish or a brain in a jar or giant crows. Just like the AVP series, the aliens need the predators. Let's take Warframe, let's reboot this whole shebang.
No volcano planet for the aliens, no creep, no James Cameron alien goo, instead Derelict HR Giger artwork and more artwork all over the Alien's planet. Coils, wires, pistons, gun mechanisms, spikes, skulls up the wazoo, Mario.

Yes? It's literally what every movie has always been about. Getting the stupid xeno, studying it, making stuff with it. The series has ALWAYS been about merging with technology. It's essentially what the Space Jockey was. Putting xeno stuff onto/into humans is grotesque and horror, but also makes them hardy and powerful etc. The idea has been around since the 80's. And yeah, it's much better than any of the shit they made instead which is just retreading the same and memberberries

Bacteriophage viruses are also natural and have been here since the dawn of time, quite the structural perfection. The perfect organism and a survivor. Bacteria & Viruses make us whales look like chumps and delusional richfags waiting to be eaten by them.
>Huh? They're almost unkillable. The flamethrower only pisses it off, it can survive easily in the vacuum of space, and not even the ship thruster at the end of Alien killed it. The only thing that can hurt it are pulse rifles, which are insanely high-caliber. Practically 40k bolters
Xenomorphs are like big tardigrades. "Seemingly" impossible to kill if left on their own in various environment but simply squashing them is enough. There's also a species of worm or eel that constantly regenerates from the smallest biomass if you cut it.

Xenos in their primitive forms just like most secluded introverted killers are always weak in organized wars full of artillery, vehicles, logistics. People compare them against war-ready Tyranids/Zergs that completely whip the floor with the xenos.
Here you'd like to take a page out of the warframes from Warframe and even they didn't do so well with the war. Albeit the warframes would stand more of a chance against the guards in Blame! than the primitive xenos that can barely withstand an unarmed Predator.

The signifiance of the perfect organism should be that of a primordial soup and DNA itself. Practicing dark arts akin to a Lich for good in reviving the dead hence the Necronomicon inspiration.
Skeletons and metal mix exceptionally well, Giger got lucky. Skeletons & guns. But when it's white or yellow it looks like easy to break porcelain, resin, silicone. Perfect fit for Hollywood's props. The skull looks realistic because it is an actual skull. Many people kept faking bones.

>>212455786
The Alien has always been in that "I thought it was more serious and down to earth" problem where the Alien people supposedly wouldn't accept GI Joe, Command & Conquer and Superman tier abilities despite them accepting many other things.
They're afraid of the atmosphere of it feeling like a campy GI Joe organization for 12 year old appeal and they much appreciate the silly wagecuck Weyland Yutani and Nostromo's coddled up pillows like you're in a mental asylum...

Blomkamp would have made a living Dark Horse comic book. Similar to how Warframe is a hedgepodge of Star Trek, Star Wars, Warhammer 40k that nobody can figure out what direction and atmosphere it wants to go for.
I do not speak for that anon for I refuse to defend people who do not know what they want just like I'm tired of artists taking credit for my interpretation of their art... I'd grab the atmosphere and world design of Blame! I would have liked Alien 3 & 4 to be The Shawshank Redemption levels of good.
Ironically from rewatching Alien 1 & Alien 2 I have noticed how wholesome it is, one of the most wholesome horros possible ... even the video games had the balls to kill the cat and kill the lady setting off the self destruct sequence because that's normally what happens in horror ... Alien 1 & 2 are as anti horror as they come, that's why everybody hates Alien 3, it's a prison story with the atmosphere of a prison, not Disneyland.

Yeah I did. Read it like 6 years ago or something. Couple cool ideas, like for example the idea that the Ayys see the same way sharks do, but it was way too edgy for my taste. Like the part where the Xenos feed the guy human flesh and try to force him to have sex with his decaying mother.

my headcanon is still that space jockeys needed to breed xenos to refine the bugs into black blood. Which is a extremely potent mutagen and basic building material for designing all biomechanical structures/creatures. Thus so called engineers were created and imprinted with a need to seed earth likes across the cosmos to serve as pool of hosts for farming xenomorphs

Weyland-Yutani was on a similar track by tacking an interest in their unique physiology for new alloys, vaccines, mutagens etc. They had not discovered how to program the black blood yet or even quite clear what it is exactly but were heading down a similar path

all of this bioweapon nonsense comes from ripleys short sighted speculation as neither alien 1,2 or 3 never specifies what exactly they want to do with the xenos

gorman wasnt exactly incompetent, you can see a little competence start to build up by the end of the movie by some of his decisions

he was just absolutely green, inexperienced and fresh out of the academy. The marine platoon was also not rookies, they were seasoned soldiers with some of them at the end of their tour. They just lost their NCO immediately which decapitated command as gorman was not up for the job

reason gorman was even put on this detail was also not unreasonable. Command assumed it was a downed transmitter fault they lost contact with colony and sent the baby lieutenant out with a small, single marine platoon to do some practice doing real dropship deployments and basic command experience on the ground. If they had taken Ripleys warnings seriously there sure as shit wouldn't have been a single marine platoon on that gigantic ass ship. There would have been a single man, a one man army, the best of the best

Kek what if a facehugger facehugged a xenomorph? Kek.

The franchise really needs to spin-off into white-collar jobs with white-collar looking actors. The xenomorph ends up being the only attractive creature in the franchise together with David.

explained;
The "mother" bot got impregnated by one of the serpents due to it being attracted to the fuelgoo inside her. This caused it to mutate slightly in order to replicate the fuelgoo as a new source of food and/or reproductive viability. When it further mutated by eating the shamanistic tree, it turned itself into a technologic tree capable of producing this new goo for its other flying serpent kind. They used the inspiration of being born from inside the "Mother" bot as a proof of concept that inter-species survival tactics was viable even for them, as long as they were able to propagate the production of the fuelgoo.
This is why they created the Xenomorphs from the aquatic creatures, as they could implant their bioweapon altered aquatic species into the rival species during their own larval stage, in order to turn the biomass of the rivalling planet into fuelgoo which is able to bring them into the flying electric eel stage of their growth cycle past the facehugger stage.
The flying eels and aquatic creatures were related species of the same planet, which is why the aquatic species also had a torso-mouth as if the facehugger evolved into a humanoid form as opposed to an eel-based form.
The "Engineers" were the technocratic underwater relatives of the Eel monsters that now had been technologically boosted by the fuelgoo of humanitys droid tech, allowing them to turn the low-caste aquatic mermaids into Xenomorphs against the technocratic overlords...
Yes,- Raised by Wolves is in fact the communist manifesto of the Alien Kinoverse.

there was a dark horse comic where the xeno homeworld was just a regular alien world with giant animals living on it, and the xenos werent even the top critter because all the megafauna would just casually curb stomp them. xenos were basically the ants of that planet. Its only when seperated from their natural predator speices that they become extremely dangerous and out of control.

of course the ip owners decided to make all comics non-cannon when the promethius movie came out.

That depends on the types of necromorphs. If they get one of the infectors, they need to make more necros, then my money is on them.
Otherwise the Xenomorphs would probably win. Though i dont know if the queen would know how to deal with the Marker, which might mean that the necromorphs would eventually take over the xenomorphs after they have already won.

I absolutely despise when brainlet directors come on decades later and are like "yeah they'll just find this microscopic black thing floating in a billion miles of space that was lost years ago". So contrived and dumb. They can't even fucking find Ripley's lifepod that half a century. The directors are so opposed to finding eggs somewhere else and it's baffling.

Those comics were fucking rad. The second series in particular with the airbrushed art was my jam. It was like Heavy Metal featuring Aliens. Having reread them recently I found the story a little more hit and miss than I remember but the general plot points were still way better than what the actual studio did because they were just straight sequels that followed to logic of the films, continued Hicks and Newt's story, and got the Aliens on earth which the movies never wanted to actually do for some reason. I'm glad they were able to rerelease the original versions without all those stupid edits where Newt and Hicks couldn't be called Newt and Hicks because of copyright bullshit.

And the ant comparison makes perfect sense if you've ever had ants in your house. Those little shits are relentless, methodical and indifferent in the face of death. If they were human-sized they would absolutely wreck our shit

Yes, it is. But just know, the entire scare factor of it is based off you being in control and facing the xenomorph yourself. If you're just watching and she effortlessly evades it, you won't feel anything. Still really cool though and better than 90% of the Alien movies. The characters are great, though some left a bit to be desired. Ricardo was a great sidekick. Samuels was a bro android and should have been in Romulus. The Working Joes were a fantastic addition to the series as was Seegson Corporation. Marlow was great and actually believable as another ship captain just trying to get a payday and inadvertantly triggering a disaster

Fox let them use the character names for the first couple editions the got twitchy once Alien 3 came out because they didn't want a competing version of things so they made them change it. Which seems retarded since all the original stuff was already out there but that's studio logic for you. When Fox got sold to Disney they just went back to the original versions since Disney apparently isn't overly protective of characters another studio killed off decades ago.

The Alien and Predator stuff outside the films reminds me a lot of the Star Wars EU where a bunch of artists and writers who were really passionate about the material made enough content that the studios had decades worth of films pre-vizzed for them and just had to pick and choose which parts they thought would work best and instead they chose to use absolutely none of it. Because why adapt the stories fans actually seemed to like when you can have Damon fucking Lindelof ruin everything instead.

I wouldn't say so to be honest. The entire appeal is (You) being in the shoes of Ripley and getting immersed in the setting and what it truly feels like to be chased by an Ayylium.

Necros. Not even a contest. You can kill an Alien with a single well placed projectile. The necros are bullet sponges who can take way more punishment. And assuming the planet is occupied with humans (because otherwise neither colony is going to expand) then the Necros would rapidly outpace the xenos because their incubation period is minutes. Those fukcing infectors will produce another necro before you can even finish off the necro they just produced.

Although to be fair the necros are worse than Aleins because Dead Space was heavily influenced by Aliens. They basically looked at Aliens and tried to one-up it so the necros are Aliens on steroids.

From what I've gathered by reading the prequel comics, obelisks don't actually work that fast. Aliens do, especially if they're like the Romulus ones and only take like 30 minutes to mature.

I fucking hated this turn into deifying the Alien and putting it on a pedestal as some perfect species. They're just an extremely well-adapted obligate parasite. Which is all they need to be because they're just a species of space monster that eats people.

The idea that the Engineers, who are an actual highly advanced race, would come across what is essentially a species of giant insect and decide to worship it is absurd. The aliens are highly intelligent for being bugs. They have no written language, no technology, no art, no science...again, they're obligate parasites whose whole life is a quest for more meat.

Agreed that they don't need to be god beings, but they also are not literal bugs. They were just using that analogy to something familiar. They should remain alien creatures with all that entails. They shouldn't just be feral animals wanting to kill and eat animals then go into hibernation when it's done. That's stupid and boring. The idea that they create biological structures, statues, and transform the worlds into giger-esque nightmares was far better. They don't need to create art that we enjoy for it still to be art to them.
