FFfags can't decide on what Final Fantasy is "supposed to be" so they kick and cry at whatever shows up regardless.
It's a fun game with good gameplay and great characters.
It's greatest weakness are the fucking side quests. Holy shit those are bad.

The story's villains are actually all well planned starting with simple conflict (Garuda), to emotional (Titan), then ideological (Odin) to inherent (Ultima).
It's a very competent rising scale of conflicts throughout the story.
