I think it's an interesting facet of his character in itself, he's blatantly doing it to appeal to (You) and Kris and Susie but he also genuinely takes pride in his appearance, so being cute is one of the few ways he can both fulfill his purpose and express his individuality (remember that going by The Prophecy, he's supposed to still be wearing the cloak)
