I started out mainly as a Straight Shota artist and now make enough to do it full time. The trick is not to care too much—people who enjoy it will naturally find you. Sure, you’ll occasionally get dumb comments on social media like, 'OmG pido file!!', but those are rare. On Twitter, you’ll need to stick to softcore or cropped posts, while on Pixiv and Baraag you can pretty much post anything. Discord has been cracking down hard, so it’s safer to share only very tame or cropped content there. On DeviantArt and Newgrounds, I mostly stick to pinups of girls.
Last thing, never draw something just because you think it’ll be a shortcut to followers or money. I got into SS during COVID because I was bored, and it’s also my favorite genre. Before I knew it, my social media started to snowball and my support pages began steadily growing with new subs. /ic/ is kinda a shitheap of a place for art discussion but if anyone has serious questions, I'd be happy to answer.
