It was panned on release because people rightly thought it was straight garbage post war propaganda. Boomers are retards so I understand them loving it when it was shown on repeat after falling out of copyright, but why do millennials and zoomers like this slop?
The main theme of the film is self sacrifice, to the point of personal aspirations being inherently selfish, and daring to live for yourself will destroy the lives of those around you. How depressing.
