Clearly you weren't even developed in your dad's nutsack back in 2008. The moment Angry Birds dropped, entire universities changed their curriculum to train cheap Java-code wage slavies. Any sort of attempt of acquiring funding for an "oldschool", hardcore game was suddenly futile. Ironic, since just last year in the NGC, the same experts pushing the mobile-shit down our throats reversed their words and instructed everybody to make PC games instead.
Also, "Casual gaming" is not an adjective, but a noun, stupid zoomie.
Nintendo LITERALLY coined the term and started appealing to NON-GAMERS with the Wii system, attracting the very mouth-breathing ADHD fags that then ruined the industry.

GTA has never been "casual". It's a textbook definition of hardcore action game, made for mature audiences.
Dudebros playing sports and racing shit were a whole breed of their own, but by no means "casual" Nintentoddlers.
