It's not a pure pity party in normal route though. Kris toys with you and even goes out of his way to help you (i.e. helping you answer quiz questions during Ch3). That's what makes it interesting; he knows your there and has fun fucking with you, but you can fuck with him right back (i.e. making the little shit flirt with Berdley)

I agree that it would be lame if it WAS just Kris angsting about it, but that isn't the case.
