I don't think there's anything that stops Van from getting more popular unless falcom will refuse to move his demon lord plot anywhere. Japs aren't that hard to please, just give Van a redemption arc, bunch of shounen wank and romance and I guarantee his popularity will skyrocket. Anus and Rufus got this after just one game.
