Please don't downplay things. Sonic was definitely hated by everyone during the 2010s, as popular online celebrities made it look cool to shit on the franchise besides the Classic era titles. You couldn't say that you liked the franchise without receiving harassment or people looking at you weirdly. It was so bad to the point that someone made a popular fangame that basically shat on the Modern Sonic and the entire Sonic community, with the message being "Fuck Modern Sonic, fuck his retarded fans, and FUCK SEGA FOR YEARS OF NOT CARING ABOUT SONIC'S ROOTS!!!!!!".
