The point is, anon, is how both of them can be addictive and detrimental to some people.
I'm not comparing religion with vidya, although one could draw parallels with wanting to be part of a community, wishing to be recognized, and so on.
What I'm saying is how one person heavily into religion would bend over backwards before they'd recognize that they are not doing it for a goal but because of an addiction, which is the textbook defition of addiction.
A grandma that prays 8 hours a day is virtually no different from a kid playing video games for the same amount of time from the perspective of addiction.
