You can absolutely be both reasonably balanced and pretty if you know what you're doing. A few of our guys are tourney type players with grey tide armies and while I do enjoy those games the aesthetic is a big part of the experience that they miss.

Kill team board mostly done now - cheers for the advice on what to put where. The segments can be moved and rotated to give more options and I'll build a couple more when I can be arsed.

Be interesting to see if it plays well and can still manage to look good.
