I remember reading and hearing spergs talk about how yuri fans often end up self-inserting and eventually try to live out their yuri fiction by becoming the cute anime girl all the time while showing cringe posts of gay crossdressers trying to cosplay as a yuri couple. This shit was the predecessor to pink pilling and before the whole "become the gf" was even a thing and it has now even taken on a whole new dimension with the vtuber scene with "yuri" tubers dating eachother when they are literally just men with anime girl avatars.
