EGS' timed-exclusivity is basically Kickstarter 2.0, the only difference is that you can skip the sob story videos and get the cash directly from your backer (Mr. Timmy himself).
It doesn't matter if the game sells like shit on PC, the devs already got paid and they can release it later on Steam/GOG/etc. after the contract is over.
