I don't play dragon age in general and haven't really engaged with any of the conversation about it aside from being aware that people weren't happy about it. It's interesting to see someone lay out his thoughts on it in a well articulated way to get some context on it, but not so interesting that I can't doze off while watching it.

The tl;dr I took away is that the dev team got gutted and shifted multiple times and the game ended up being some okay systems and a couple of good story beats with gallons of quippy uninteresting slop piled on because none of the writers knew what to do after the aforementioned gutting and shifting.

I watched it. He avoids calling trannies out. He praises the environment and combat (for some reason). He played as a warrior. He says that cringe dialogue and lack of respect for the DA setting killed the game. The game treats you as if you are an idiot, and the plot is retarded as well. What else? Dragon Age was never good. But I actually sunk 30 hours into Veilguard and thought it was a 7/10 gameplay-wise. Enjoyed it more than Avowed.

No, I haven't played any Owlcat games outside of Rogue Trader but back to DragonAge, I meant that they did the Castle Siege aspect in Dragon Age Origins with the Awakening DLC where you build up a castle and have to defend it. I thought maybe for the third game when they introduced the enormous castle and had you repair it, renovate it, that it might become a gameplay element much like Awakening, but alas it did not.

I disagree heavily, Mass Effect 1 is an amazing game KOTOR 1 and 2, Dragon Age Origins. Even Jade Empire, and not forgetting Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. Now the true rot for Bioware set in half way through Mass effect 2 when EA bought them out. It has never been the same since.

Disagree. Loved everything until after ME1. Dragon Age Origins is where it all started going south for me, I'm still mad at the gamestop cashier who touted it as a "great successor to Baldurs Gate." (They ended up trooning out a killing themselves years later, but I'm still mad at the nigga).

The fact that posters would probably agree with him nowadays makes me feel old as shit, since these same posters probably played it as children or much later when the market was saturated with even shittier games.
