Every generation is going to have their own "THING" but I have never seen a generation so adverse to engaging with older material than this one. And this is going to come as a huge shock, but a lot of the classic pillars of the genre weren't exactly THE NEW HOTNESS when we were reading them either.

Because most shows aimed at adults are somehow more immature than shows aimed at kids. They're almost all the same kind of puerile, low brow shock humor that only an immature person would consider immature. More to point I don't think it's wrong to expect better of the material we show to a younger generation. While movies are no substitute for proper parenting we are in at least someways shaped by the media around us and having a constant parade of idiotic noise is doing no one any favors. We need adventures with stakes and genuine drama and consequences and true morals.
