I'm about to start playing for the first time and would appreciate if someone could expand a little on the difference between Veteran Guardsmen and Kasrkin. Another player will almost certainly end up playing Death Korps, so I wouldn't mind trying something different for the sake of variety but I am just baffled by the number of warbands and kill team editions that are involved. While I would prefer something Imperial Guard related I am happy to play any human warband that is not too difficult.

Thanks.

>Thoughts and wishes?

Phobos armor looks too tacticool to me, like it belongs in Halo and not Warhammer. But at least the Space Wolves have beards, furs, leather bags etc that shift things back in the Warhammer direction.

Not super jazzed overall and already looking forward to whatever season is next. I'd really like Catachans and Eldar wraithguard type units in a jungle terrain setup.

Got to play against the new Deathwatch. Opponent was a weird smelly 40 year old guy who didn't take losing very well so that influences things, but I don't really like them. Well, ultra-elite armies in general. If they leave a guy open early on and you can focus to take him out, the game radically shifts in your favor. But it's no fun to get trounced by some ultra-elite force that stays totally untouched either.

I can do you one better
An updated image for the two latest boxes (just in time to be outdated by the release of tomb world)

Now, it has to be said
I've only got real experience with sanctifiers and a touch of experience with goremongers out of these four. The battleclade and raveners summaries, box requirements, and ESPECIALLY difficulty ratings are all things I've extrapolated from general KT experience and thorough reading of the rules. As usual, I'll be taking feedback on this (hopefully fast enough that it can be added to the next thread that we're moving to soon).
