Assault should be medic im sorry, the ladder is now never gonna be used whatsoever if it was a support gadget. However, people would rather use the weapon sling with grenade launcher over a gimmick. Battlefield had the greatest idea for a healer archetype and they threw it away becasue "erm the frontline class shouldnt heal!"
