The main thing that killed the series was time, too much time in between actual numbered releases on console, and by the time it did come out have an exclusivity contract with Sony was more of hinderance than a help for their profit model.

Thank you for the information guys, appreciate it. I enjoy the lore but even since back in the BBS days it feels like we are one of the last communities still very reliant on fansubs and people to bridge the gap from Japan for people who enjoy the franchise in the west.
