The Melty Blood story as it is doesn't seem all that set up to be changed that drastically. Doesn't mean it wouldn't happen but who knows at this point.

The old one has two versions, the community version and the steam version. The latter has unplayable netcode so everyone plays the community version which is 100% FREE.
MBTL is just way too repetitive and boring.
