I think you're just misunderstood.
Of course there are plenty of weebs here, they just don't advertise themselves as such.
I just hate adding someone and gambling on whether or not they'll share my interests... it feels like a waste of time.

So I usually only add people who openly advertise the fact that they're in to otaku stuff, hence why I made this thread. Now i know that everyone here will be in to this stuff without having to only add the few people who talk about how they like anime in their posts on other threads.

To a degree, yeah. I like old school Toonami shows more though. Got filtered hard by current isekai sloppa. Currently going through Inuyasha now, but I really like Tenchi Muyo, Bebop, Ancient Magus Bride, JJBA. Started reading Pandora Hearts and Vanitas at the recommendation of an old friend, but we don't talk anymore so I don't feel obligated to do that. DBZ will always be my number 1 though, especially the old Funimation dub.

I don't watch anime super often, but what I have been watching recently has primarily been Gundam. Watching L-Gaim right now, pretty enjoyable. Outside of that, I believe what I've recently watched (last half year or so) has been Shoushimin, SDF Macross, and DTB Season 2 (havent watched episode 12 yet though). Most manga I read are ongoing or are actively translated, so I only read manga once a week at most, and thats just for Megami no Cafe Terasu. Other stuff I'm reading include the OPM webcomic, Hirayasumi, Isekai Ojiisan, Mieruko Chan.
I think I also play a good amount of games that would fall into the Otaku sphere. I tend towards RPGs I believe, but have been recently playing Strinova (Chinese anime-CSGO, if you would like some word soup to describe the game) and would really like people to play that. I have other stuff, but I think thats the one otaku-adjacent I feel like mentioning.

While I am not a weeb, I've been around a couple times and I've developed some tastes and some ideas. Among those ideas is the following: people who like Evangelion are enamored with their suffering/depression and seem to need thrice as many kicks from life in order to get their asses moving.
I've no idea why but this seems like a universal phenomenon in my experience. I have not watched any Evangelion myself.

Evangelion is one of my favorites of all time (how original) but it's the fans you're describing that missed the point entirely.

As self serving as the show is to Anno (the creator), a big theme of it is self-motivating but somehow that is lost on them. A lot of the show is Shinji bitching or being a pussy, then manning up. That sounds boring and very shonen-esque but it manages to feel very desperate even for an anime about mechas (allegedly).

I don't want to spoil too much and I encourage you to watch the show, but the greatest thing about Eva is it's absolutely bait. It pretends to be a generic anime, it pretends to be a self insert for young lonely boys (which the people you describe project themselves so) but is actually about self improvement, self love, and why escapism is bad.
