Everybody gets butthurt about Zak Brown saying he wants less teams and the way in which he wants it is indeed pretty fucking retarded, but the reality is the easiest thing they could do to keep Honda is raise the super discount engine lease cap and organically lose a couple or few broke teams and save the Honda millions and millions of dollars subsidizing the teams. Like right now ostensibly they lose ~$11.5m on engine leases (it's more than that because they give some away for free but that's another thing), if they raised the price $500k and went back down to 22 or 23 car fields that would bring that down to only $4.5m.

Those free engines they give to guys like Dixon because they want to win do cost them an extra $2.5m which is more or less why being a single supplier becomes financially viable because everyone is paying so that makes up for around 3 cars worth of operating loss before you get into reduced R&D and lower specs.

Then we watched tech inspection until there were no more cars, went to the gift shop and got an event T-shirt and an RA puzzle. After we went to Parker John's and had a sconnie potato and chicken sandwich with a root beer float, then we walked along the outside of turn 5, eventually ending up at Canada Corner for qualifying. The scanner reception sucks on the backside of the track. We headed back to the car during the Fast 12 and left.

As someone mentioned several threads ago. I think motorsport relieves a bit of a rennaissance. Motorsport couldn't be a lot healthier than it is now, despite all that BoP bullshit, GT3series #1234 and whatever, and with proper marketing and sim-racing the audience is broader than ever. It is also at a healthy size, not to big to pander to normies entirely, but also not to small to disappear in irrelevance. At least the Valkyrie and SC63 finished the race and they were positioned really well if that late race caution didn't screw up the pit stops. In cas you didn't know, basically everyone was going to have to make one more stop, but the caution allowed a few cars to fuel save and stay out until the end.
