What is not in the spirit of a sporting competition is putting social pressure towards a team or rider to not go for a stage win even if they want to, because it would be too greedy. But this only applies to non-sprint stages, because for some reason sprinters deserve it and we have to protect them, after all their proficiency in trying to murder their competitors is something we have to cherish.

I think they got a lot of bikes for charity and then there's charity and organisations who invested in east african cycling. Like trek ironically have charities where they donate bikes for africans just from a humanitarian perspective.
