Sup y'all, my current road bike of 20+ years is reaching its end of serviceable life. The frame is pretty banged up and it's going to get a lot more difficult to maintain moving forward.

I'm in the market for an endurance-focused bike but wanted to get your advice on the decision. I'm not planning to enter any races but want to have a bike that fits the "stupid long rides" category.

Right now I'm deliberating between
* Pinarello Dogma X
* Cervelo Caledonia 5
* Cannondale Synapse Carbon 1
* Specialized Roubaix (Expert or S-Works level)

I'm not attached to a brand but maybe leaning towards a bike that has a Shimano groupset; I haven't heard the best things about SRAM in the past.

Any pointers on what else I should be optimizing for?

Been riding the non-5 Caledonia with Rival AXS for two years and am very happy with it. The Caledonia-5 with Force seems like a pretty good package.

I would also take a look at the new Aspero 5 if you have any interest in riding on gravel.

Sram is pretty clearly ahead in the game right now compared to Shimano. Just make sure you get the current model of the groupset.

Some teams/manufacturers have rationalized the aero and the climbing bike into one.
Cervelo (Visma) and Specialized (Quick-Step) technical also have a bike that can take wider tires and is meant for gravel stages, but I think those are hardly used.
