Pog using Y1 for a 4500m climb stage, I guess the watts saved otherwise are enough and he doesn't care to try drop the fish. It's going to be over at Hautacam with V5, looked like he was on a Sunday rider marking Jorgenson. Embarrassing from fish to never try anything with all the team did.

Also, further confirmation that there is only 1 dominant team in GTs the last 6 years, Visma. UAE would get demolished without having by far the best rider in the world covering all their weaknesses and mistakes, except in MSR and Roubaix.

Pogacar for Slovene RAI:
>It's not easy to lose a yellow T-shirt. But yesterday we lost Joao Almeida, Pavel Sivakov is still recovering from an illness. Today's goal was not to be attacked by Visma or to repel those attacks. So, we did a great job. This is the first one, tomorrow is a rest day. It's also good that I don't have a yellow shirt for that. They were getting a bit annoying with all the attacks, so I decided to make one better attack myself, but I also saw that Lenny Martinez was out of the breakaway and I got on his wheel and crossed the finish line behind him, which means more to him than to me.

Sup y'all, my current road bike of 20+ years is reaching its end of serviceable life. The frame is pretty banged up and it's going to get a lot more difficult to maintain moving forward.

I'm in the market for an endurance-focused bike but wanted to get your advice on the decision. I'm not planning to enter any races but want to have a bike that fits the "stupid long rides" category.

Right now I'm deliberating between
* Pinarello Dogma X
* Cervelo Caledonia 5
* Cannondale Synapse Carbon 1
* Specialized Roubaix (Expert or S-Works level)

I'm not attached to a brand but maybe leaning towards a bike that has a Shimano groupset; I haven't heard the best things about SRAM in the past.

Any pointers on what else I should be optimizing for?

Anonymous Ireland No.149791024 >>149791052

well yeah that's the point he's making

>It was only a little over a year ago that all of Denmark had a hard time getting their arms down with enthusiasm after the 11th stage of the Tour. It was the most recent visit to the Massif Central, where the Dane not only crossed the finish line with Pogacar on a stage that suited the Slovenian best. That day, he even shocked everyone and everything by actually beating him in the sprint.

>At that time, many – including me – came to the conclusion that Vingegaard had to be the favorite. If he could beat Pogacar in Pogacar-land, he also had to have an upper hand in the Vingegaard country that awaited later. He just hadn't – not at all. On the contrary, Pogacar gave the jam one gigantic slap after another, and the optimism that had filled Denmark on the medium-long climbs in the Massif Central turned out to be not only unfounded, but to be totally on the moon.

The most based irishbert post I've seen. It's absolutely true and that's what they're doing.

>le attacks today were annoying!
>le Visma tactics are silly!

Even the gesture from vingegaard at the end seemed to piss him off. He looks like shit today, way less energy than before. Even after the finish.

I'd like to see a jumbo goofball, so campenaerts, 'accidentally' holding his bottle the wrong way and spraying half a bottle of sticky drink all over poogacar, particularly his bars and hands. That'd infuriate him. Other trstumg methods can be Visma rider farts around him all day or just stinks of bo.

I watched an interview with Mohorič where he said cycling is an extremely painful profession. Riders have to cooperate with each other, yet ultimately compete for victory—with only one winner. He found it agonizing because a winner's triumph is built on the defeat of their opponents (who are also collaborators). Yates, as a strong rider from a top team (Visma), refused to take the lead for most of the race, only to effortlessly secure the stage win in the end. I understand this is part of Visma's so-called strategy, but I can't appreciate it—it just leaves me uncomfortable.

Where does this meme come from? He strikes me as one of the smarter riders.

>‘I was definitely more introverted when I was a child because of the fact I was sometimes bullied at school. But as I got into cycling, I got more extroverted and that helped me to open up,’ he says.

>He would be teased for not skipping lessons like everyone else, and for being clever. To simply call Mohorič intelligent, though, is like describing candy floss as sugary. He has a curious, analytical mind and he can read race scenarios like a supercomputer. When he speaks, the Slovenian radiates a calm confidence that comes from knowing himself supremely well.

>Mohorič has an intelligence that makes him almost too smart for sport. Carried by hard work and his love of science and mathematics, the young Mohorič wanted to be an engineer and graduated high school with one of the highest marks in Slovenia. He could have gone to the University of Ljubljana, but with a junior rainbow jersey in his wardrobe, he opted to turn professional in 2014 with Cannondale.

>He speaks of Almeida's departure with a lump in his throat, because he had a special bond with the Portuguese rider and would have been his right-hand man in the toughest mountain stages. "The last two days, when he was riding injured, he showed a gladiatorial ride. I can't imagine what it's like to ride with injuries like that. I am sad that we lost him. We had a good atmosphere. He was looking forward to the second week."

>Asked what he expects for the rest of the week, he was clear: "It will go fast. This week could already be decisive. Usually the second week is a bit easier, but this week is almost as hard as the last one. We will see bigger differences between the riders."

>He is looking forward to two stages in particular: "I'm really looking forward to Hautacam and the Peyragudes chronometer. Then it's almost week three."

>He has a respectful but realistic view of rivals. His biggest rival, Jonas Vingegaard, is 1:17 behind in the overall standings, which bodes well for the rest of the Tour: "The Tour is at a high level. Nine stages were explosive, nervous and the tenth was difficult to control. Our team rode great, even though we lost Joao and Pavel got sick. Monday showed something about the strength of the rivals, but it wasn't a real indicator. The real battle will be this week - in the mountain stages and the itt. It will be intense. Truth. There was a study done on leadership and the best leaders cap out at 120 IQ (if you put stock in such things). As you increase above 120 it becomes a rapid dive off the edge of a cliff, as self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and analysis paralysis set in.

this is true but past a certain point intelligence becomes good again. you just gotta have a basic package of good philosophy, which is not easy to do by yourself without fortuitous upbringing.

the metrics behind iq is valid wrt g, but at the high end intelligence diverges sharply into multiple skills. high g individuals tend to be good at many things but they are also particularly good at different things. so high iq from a basic pattern matching test is meaningful for some things(mostly are you a retard population level metrics), but you need more specific testing for higher end, subject matter specific stuff.
