He would've made even more money than this fight against Barrios. And it would've been an EASY win.

Ali was a bit weak to left hooks and didn't fight many southpaws. Tyson never fought a single southpaw, i think he absolutely hated the match up in sparring and was like nah never.

Lennox and Vitali would give Usyk tough nights though. Wlad apparently got beat up by Usyk in sparring and kicked him out of his gym or something like that so hes not in the running.

He wouldn't though. You seem to forget Ali's chin was made from granite, and for all of Usyk's shifting and tactical nous - Ali had just as much.

If the fight was to happen by today's standards I'd have Usyk winning but it would be by split decision.

Mind you, I think the most fascinating fight would be Holyfield v Usyk.

Ali and Dundee would study Usyk and find something, they were very good at that and Ali had success in rematches but Usyk being the same size as Ali makes it more difficult.
A 5'11 Fraizer for example he could wrap up and lean on in the second fight but Usyk that's not really an option.

It would be an interesting match, Ali would probably be a different fighter if he had to deal with slavic southpaws and giant 6'7+ guys like Fury, Wilder etc.

Ali got dropped several times. Usyk would absolutely batter Ali.
A lot of people overrate the past fighters and I think Ali has the best resume at heavyweight, but if we put him in this era, he would have a lot of trouble with AJ and Fury. Ali never fought anyone that big.

It would be interesting to see how his cross guard would fair against Ali. It's such an efficient way to deflect jabs, it would nullify a lot of Ali's offense. However, Ali could certainly improvise as he did against Frazier.

cant believe they robbed my boy pac of a win last night. why do PBC keep bailing Barrios out of these close fights ESPECIALLY against Pac of all people? If he had won that belt imagine how much money they could have made with a unification fight with Pac against Haney/Norman? or hell even a regular title fight with Pac taking on some other young popular guy like teofimo, cryan, rolly etc. if they do a rematch with Pac vs. Barrios then im gonna pick Pac with full confidence, if he managed to beat him coming off 6 YEARS of inactivity and with only one training camp then i see no reason why he couldnt do even better while hes fresher, has less ring rust and has an understanding of how limited Barrios truly is.
it was good to see the old men in usyk and pac perform well last night, class is truly permanent. Bam also looked phenomenal as usual, demolished a solid champ in Cafu with ease. only thing that was a bummer was seeing tszyu get destroyed, Murt took his soul

Loma just had less fortunate timing in his career than usyk. usyks career has been incredible but only because boxing politics has very luckily not been able to fuck him over like it has so many others like loma. cruiserweight during usyks era, though probably the most stacked it had ever been to that point in time, was still mostly uncared for by the general public, the only person who fought there who was popular was Bellew. nobody there was with a promoter who was willing to protect them from dangerous fights in fear of their stock dropping from a loss which is why the WBSS even happened there with so many top fighters in it.
and when usyk moved to heavyweight, AJ and Hearn probably wouldve ducked him if he had not looked a bit lacklustre against chisora. the fury fights also literally only happened because some random fucking desert prince nobody had heard of prior suddenly became super interested in boxing and basically strong armed fury into the fights kek

Tyson got frustrated when he couldn't blast someone out early. A tricky southpaw like Usyk with an iron chin would be a nightmare for him.
I would honestly see Tyson quitting around Round 7 or 8 like Dubois.

Lewis is a better match up for Usyk, both of them would rekt each other like Holyfield and Bowe did.

Tyson only ever got frustrated by clinching.
Saying he'd take until the late rounds to knock Usyk out is me acknowledging that Usyk isn't easy to hit but I don't think he has an iron chin.
Dubois quit because he has no foot movement, no head movement, no heart and no chin - you can't say that about Tyson at his best.
>Lewis is a better match up for Usyk, both of them would rekt each other like Holyfield and Bowe did.
Lewis is a chinny bum whose reputation is flattered by beating washed up big names.
Would anybody be calling him a great if he didn't stop a 136 year old Mike Tyson?
And despite his weak era, he still retired like a bitch.

The sole reason the Klitschko's are considered ATG is their long reign. But they started in a strong division and ended in a very weak division. The HW division hasn't been this good since the 90s. And Usyk beat all the top dogs twice. I get what you're saying with the reign stuff. But he has been champ for 4 years now. If he beats Parker next year. Thats five years of him being the champ. I would be fine with that considering his age and his cruiserweight exploits

I don't think their division was ever particularly strong, but they were the best two guys there were and that's all you could ask of them.
Well, I would've liked to have seen Vitali knock out Wladimir but that was never on the cards tbf.
>The HW division hasn't been this good since the 90s
imo the last 20 years has been the weakest heavyweight division since the 1940s/50s, and there aren't even any drafts that you can blame.
>he has been champ for 4 years now. If he beats Parker next year. Thats five years of him being the champ
I still think an undisputed reign plus more 25 fights in his entire pro career (and more than 9 fights at heavyweight) would help, otherwise it reads like a women's boxing rรฉsumรฉ where it's too easy/effortless to be hyped up as the greatest.
Best of this era, undoubtedly.

He went the distance with a few top 10-20 guys in his prime and a couple of times was down on himself for not KOing them or having a close fight. He would do that whole "how would you rate yourself/how could cus rate that" and sometimes it was "eh i could have done better"

Tyson could have improved but he never did, which is why "le prime mike with cus" memes are almost pointless because it's all hypothetical. Tyson is still an ATG for sparking out 90% of people he was up against but that elite level with Lewis and Holyfield was something he just couldn't get done.

I feel like that is unfair to his boxing record. A lot of guys go 15-0 without fighting anyone. Usyk turned pro relatively late. But he was undisputed cruiserchamp after 15 fights. He won the WBO title in his 10th fight. The type of fights also matter imo. Munguia has fought 40 times against nobody's before he had his first proper fight. If he can get to 10 fights at HW I would be okay with it.

I mean Usyk will never have a "true" reign

Fighter activity is just different now, no champion fights 4 times a year let alone the 6 or 7 times a year top guys used to in the 40s and 50s.

I think about it in terms of 'generations' for Usyk. There's the generation before Usyk, his generation, and the next generation.

Strangely where Usyk is lacking is the old generation. He wasn't part of the group of fighters that ended the Klitschko/Povetkin/Haye/Chagaev/Pulev generation. Usyk's biggest old generation win is Chisora who never quite made the leap to top level contender.

Usyk's best showing is his current generation. Two wins each over AJ and Fury are great for him, clearly demonstrating he is the best of his era. I wish he'd been able to fight Wilder, Ruiz and Whyte to leave no doubt but other than that I have limited complaints here.

Usyks next generation wins are Dubois twice and Murat Gassiev. You'd really like to see him fight guys like Parker, Kabayel, and Wardley before he hangs them up but he's off to a good start.

Boxing is the only sport that actively encourages this.
And Lewis, by promising the rematch and then choosing not to take it, admitted that he would never be able to beat Vitali Klitschko.
If John Ruiz knocked out Tyson in 2004 or 2005 people would argue that he has a better record than Lennox Lewis.

Someone with a lot of talent but rarely fight at the highest level. When its time to step up they struggle. I have never really rated Dubois. He obviously got good power so he has a shot against anyone. But I don't think he's that good a boxer. But Dubois has fought at a much higher level than Kabayel or Hrgovic. kekthony has some underrated boxing skills, plus he's big and much faster than dubois. his only flaws are a weak chin and weak heart which typifies UK bums. People calling Usyk the best ever need to take a step back and realize his best wins are literally against UK domestic level heavyweights.
AJ in his prime went life and death with the cadaver of Klitschko. Wasn't he like 43 in that fight?
tyson fury is a fat drunk alcoholic and Usyk couldn't stop him. The rematch was totally boring shit. Tony Bellpoo? That guy is trash. Chisora is a walking punching bag that's even slower than Dubois.
Its a seriously trash era. Usyk is good but he couldn't beat a prime Holyfield, Jack Dempsey would maul him. Joe Louis would probably stop him. Imagine him trying that tap tap shit against Foreman walking him down. He's not faced anything like that in this era cuz its all soft UK bullshit.
I'll debate it with anyone here.

I'm not going to blame Usyk for the lack of quality opponents. Generally, you also had elite American HWs that use to fill up, but most of them are either playing football or basketball instead. Those who aren't, are too short to be HW.
What does he have currently? One who he already beat at CW in Micheal Hunter and prospect who hasn't fought anyone that would be deem a Gatekeeper/Contender. Till America gets their shit together, it's going to be slim pickins.

its not that much of a difference if you take care of your body. It helps when your opponents are both slow as fuck. speed is the most important attribute in boxing. Barrios is slow as shit, with slow feet. Dubois is the same. If you have the speed edge you can beat anyone even if they're "bigger" or whatever.

As for American boxing in heavyweight, yeah it sucks. That's why Usyks only real options are fighting in the UK but I went over this in the previous post. UK boxing has hype and a shitload of pageantry and atmosphere but the boxes are mediocre and soft. Always have been always wll be with very few exceptions. (Froch, Calzaghe)

I would personally prefer to see Usyk vs Kabayel because Parker is kind of boring to watch. And I don't think he has that special factor to beat Usyk.
Kabayel has his body shots and knocks people out, it would be more fun.

But Parker is way more likely to be next. I think it's either him or Fury.

Think about it like this: If he fights Kabayel and Parker within the next 12 months there will be nobody else who has accomplished enough to be worth fighting who he hasnt already beaten.

Guys like itauma, Torrez, okolie would have to beat 4 top contenders in the next 12 months to be worth it, and none of them are going to be active enough to do that.

Usyk can keep fighting these less-tested guys with thin resumes after those 12 months, but the proven contender well will be dry. Only contender who could accomplish enough is Fabio Wardley but promoters all seem to hate him so I dont think he'll get a shot at Usyk

so they can easily score just two wins to be shilled, after all thas what happened with dubois and kabayel

like lets say that okolie beats hunter and ajagba or just hunter that would make him the #1 guy by the wbc and wba, the list of potential guys for usyk to beat will never end until he decides to retire

Who else is there? Parker should have probably gotten a shot before Dubois this time around. But Dubois pissed Usyk off and Usky probably didn't like all the low blow narrative shit. So he wanted to right this wrong. Which is why Dubois got the shot before Parker.

Kabayel has two good wins. But hasn't fought a top 5 guy yet. Imo he needs to fight one of the top 5 guys or a big name. AJ, Fury, Dubois, Parker, Hrgovic.

We can only rate him off his legitimate wins:

>1 win against Dubois (lost the first fight)
>2 wins against GayJ
>Chazz Witherspoon

That's pretty lackluster when you compare it to his losses to Fury twice, Chisora and the first fight against Dubois.

There's bigger fish to fry. Let Chisora hold his spot as the gatekeeper of heavyweight as long as he's willing. Usyk already passed that gate fine the first time. Still one of his toughest fights at heavy, but beyond the first few rounds Chisora couldn't do much of anything so it was pretty easy to score.

Not going to spend more than I would on a regular game. I've already put enough time in it to warrant the price I'd pay for an indie, but I was surprised by how well designed and generous it was for a free game.

Imagine that same training style of game where you're a boxing trainer, fighters from different weight classes, styles and regions where you can train up with a bunch of different characters, that then would retire and become trainers themselves to pass on their skills, etc. Fighters would form rivalries/friendships in the vein of Ippo/Ashita no Joe.

send that shit to turki lel, the umas are making literally billions in profit, if that boxing clone were to get just a fraction of that I would consider it success, the only downside is that the guys would either look like twinks or total ogres

That's the problem, it'd be a hard sell as a gacha game if you're collecting buff fighter guys, so you'd have to lean in on the coolness aspect + have the fights be very entertaining or perhaps even interactive rather than just watching it play out. There are similar games like that that exist for things like Dragonball that have remained popular. Uma also leans heavy into the card collecting aspect which are way more important than the horses themselves. Lots of potential with that, but that type of thing goes all the way back to fomo over collecting baseball cards if you think about it.

A few similar boxing type sims like that. Punch Club, an indie game. Boxing Story, a japanese indie mobile game but they're much simpler in scope and not live service/free to play. Only way I could see it feasibly work is if Turki struck a deal with Morikawa to officially license an Ippo Musume clone. But CyGames put a lot of polish into this one and are devious. I'll try and make an indie clone, a gacha is way beyond my scope. That being said...you could just have hot anime girls boxing, this is a thought. Certainly beats the GWOAT

Chisora is a fun watch but there no way in hell he should be getting a title shot. if hes serious about wanting one last run for the belt, he should take on either Ajagbe or Sanchez for the number 1 IBF spot, the winner essentially guarantees themselves a title shot once the IBF orders a defence. I wouldnt pick him to win either of those fights but theyre much more winnable fights for him compared to guys like Itauma or Zhang

Lennox is a far harder matchup than Holyfield would be, hes probably the only heavyweight other than Holmes in history who has a decidedly jab than usyk

Ngannou was a 290lb MMA HW champion with the element of surprise.
Jew Paul isnโ€™t York Hall level.

There was a concerted effort in the Cold War to get as many Olympic gold medals as possible, this created the most hardcore schools and systems to try and beat the USA and establish communism as the dominant 20th century ideology. Usyk is a by product of that system that spanned into the modern day. Itโ€™s a shame all we have here as trainers are dads, uncles and glorified pad holders.

decidedly
/dJหˆsสŒJdJdli/
adverb
1.
undoubtedly; undeniably.
"he looked decidedly uncomfortable"

in other words, lennox's jab was the only heavyweight jab in history which was undoubtedly better than Usyks, along with Larry Holmes, in my opinion.
