Jonas interview with Danish media TV2:

Jonas Vingegaard, you finally managed to get past Pogacar, but then Thymen Arensman was just ahead. How frustrating is that?

โ€œOf course itโ€™s frustrating. I tried to play the game on the final climb, and I was going more for the stage win than trying to gain time,โ€ says Vingegaard, referring to the fact that he let the Slovenian lead the way.

โ€œSo yeah, itโ€™s obviously a shame that Thymen Arensman was out there. But he rode strongly today and deserved to win.โ€

Do you have any regrets today โ€“ or maybe even from yesterday โ€“ that you couldโ€™ve tried something else?

โ€œNo, I feel like Iโ€™ve done everything I could. Iโ€™ve given it everything. So no, I donโ€™t really have any regrets. Iโ€™m happy with how Iโ€™ve ridden here in the third week, and happy with how the legs have been โ€“ also today. And how the team has performed.โ€

Two days left โ€“ does that mean itโ€™s now just about getting safely to Paris and securing second place?

โ€œYes, Iโ€™d say so. I think the fight is pretty much over now. Itโ€™s hard to do anything, both tomorrow and in Paris. Iโ€™d prefer to ride safely, so I might be sitting at the back of the peloton, because Iโ€™m kind of in no manโ€™s land, you could say.โ€

>"Right now I'm mostly glad it's over. I had to ride up the whole climb, so I came across the finish line really tired. I had three hard days, so I'm glad the end is near," Pogacar concluded.

Heโ€˜s still far away from Pogacar (and Vingegaard), hard to imagine him beating these two at the same time. Especially since these two still have plenty of years on top left. Then again, the intriguing part about him is that heโ€™s still relatively new to cycling on that level. Maybe he can still improve his legs more than youโ€˜d expect. Apart from that, he needs to improve tactically and have a good team work for him. If he gets all of that, there might be a slim chance. But as of now, nobody should expect it. Knew about Widar, he's promising yes, needs to graduate from development soon tho - it's not like the old days anymore where you can just lounge at 19, gotta move up ASAP.

Already given up on Lecerf desu but maybe that's judging prematurely

Like Tadej, I am a bit tired right now, but still we must continue with another /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !! The Tour concludes in the high French Alps, and today's bottle is a bottle cobbled together from multiple vineyards in Savoie. The producer is a network of vignerons that buy organic/biodynamic grapes from across France and then vinify in a minimally-interventionist fashion.

Les ร‰quilibristes Borboyon 2022 ($28)

The grape is Jacquere blended with 2% Altesse. Pours a pale straw with light/medium body. The nose is restrained, transparent with green apple, light grassy note, and soft oyster shell minerality. The palate is super clean, with just the lightest apple and minerality, slightly oxidative finish.

This is super refined for a biodynamic wine, just crystal clear Alpine style. Nice. If you like Muscadet, this is sort of in that style.

Anonymous United States No.149956089 >>149962147

Advantage of Manhattan is you can basically find anything you want within a couple days, the selection is infinite. Greatest wine shops in United States (for European-minded winos). If you're interested in something, look it up on winesearcher and you'll find a shop in NYC selling it.

Crush is my #1 shop, insane selection that matches my taste, good people. My neighborhood shop is Eastside Cellars which favors organic/biodynamic/natural wines from old world and New York. This is where I get a good chunk my daily drinkers and find new stuff I like since I trust their taste.

Beyond those two, I buy from Flatiron/Sotheby's/Verve/Acker/ESOW/Eataly depending on what I'm looking for plus a few smaller neighborhood shops known for selections of specific stuff.

He pulled the whole fucking race into Paris on his own. If where are the rest of the team? I've seen maybe 3 or 4 trek riders active this tour, the rest have done fuck all. Stick 2 shutters on the front to control breaks or some shit.

Such a retarded team. Trek are losing their grasp on the team which is based, hopefully they get squeezed out and replaced. The culture in the team seems retarded. They sign great riders but only ever allow 4-5 riders have a chance in races. The rest get caged for their few leaders.

De Lie has been problematic the past seasons, I'd say this Tour has actually been good for him with the expectations going in

Nys it was funny because he's used to competing and winning even in the world tour and he was like in media: "wtf is this, these guys are riding so freaking hard and fast every day I can't keep up, where are these guys the rest of the year???" So he definitely got a dose of why they say the tour is different from all the other stuff, he probably needs to grow his motor so I'm not worried about him either. After the rumors that Ayuso wants to leave UAE came out Pog stopped winning. My theory is that the team wants to keep Ayuso, so they told Pog that he won't do the Vuelta this year. Instead they will give Ayuso a chance. Pog isn't happy with this and in return has "refused" to win races. Finishing 2nd or 3rd, when he could have won at least 3. This is his revenge, telling the team that he could but won't. The main reason is Matxin who brought Ayuso in and desperately wants him to become the new Pog. And the reason why UAE gave in to Matxin is because he has dirt on them in some way or another. Hence he can basically do what he wants and selects who he wants.

It annoys me how media is all like: "Oh look, Pogacar is bored/disinterested, he isn't even winning the stages anymore!". Even for the best rider in the world in pogacar he still has to work hard for everything, and it's pretty clear that he is mentally and physically fatigued from the race. I don't think he "gifted" arensman the victory yesterday like he was soft pedaling, I think he was riding good tempo to try and win the stage but he's been conserving energy with the eye on GC. >"Our plan was to win the Tour, and we wanted to make a difference somewhere, but we're up against a super-strong opponent who hasn't shown any weaknesses. That makes it very difficult."

>Especially since team leader Vingegaard himself performed poorly in the time trial in Caen and in the first mountain stage to Hautacam. "Do we know what happened there? No, that's something for the performance staff. And we wouldn't share it with the media either."

>"Apart from those two days, Jonas performed incredibly well, but that doesn't change the fact that he couldn't break Tadej down anywhere. He tried every day."

So, that didn't work out this time. Were mistakes made? "You can never devise the perfect tactic, because you also have to consider the opposition."

>โ€œWe might have done some things differently, but the outcome would always have been the same.โ€

>That doesn't diminish the motivation for next year. "The Tour is the biggest race, and winning is the main goal here. We'll try to do the same next year."

>The gap to Pogacar seems bigger than ever. "Not so much bigger than last year, but then we could assume Jonas would be better (after his crash in the Basque Country)."

>"Without his two bad days in this Tour, the difference would have been quite small, but Pogacar would still have been at the top."

De Lie and Van Eetvelt are Lotto's best. Also De Lie already rode the Tour last year with decent results and Van Eetvelt already rode the Vuelta two times. Bringing them to the Tour makes perfect sense, provided they're in good shape.
Nys was a bit of a gamble, so far it didn't quite pay off because he didn't achieve anything himself but it seems he's still keeping up well enough to be of help to his team, so no real harm done and he'll learn from the experience.
