What? It makes perfect sense, as through most of human existence food with high caloric density was scarce as fuck and hunger and appetite were a vital core drive to keep humans alive. Now that drive leads us to eating exactly the things that are worst for our bodies, as they are abundant and overengineered to solely stimulate those cravings instead of satisfying our nutritional needs.

Hopeless. Can you explain how this contradicts the information laid out by me? Moving more is one of the ways to fix your weight issue. If you match Remco's activity level, you can get away with not focussing on diet as much as you would have to with average levels of activity. I told you, you have options. You're either a combative brainlet or trolling in a very strange way. If you want to engagement farm, you can just offer some hot takes related to cycling instead of making it about your disgusting body and hair removal.

I sort of make it up as I go. I wanted to try central masif because I've never really been here. I wanted to put it on my route on the way to the pyrenees so I don't have to drive 12 hours in one day but it's a nice area.

The climbs aren't very hard but the landscape is pretty cool and distinct compared to most of your regular mountainous regions.

The puy mary is a must do, cool climb you can do from 3 sides, the puy de dome looks cool but you aren't allowed to climb it because it's protected so that's too bad

Dzień dobry and welcome to another WT stage race and another round of sensational /WORLD TOUR WINE/ (bier) !!

Poland is obviously a vodka and beer country, so we will be taking a brief hiatus from wine after so many good bottles recently. This is BIG news for the /cyc/ office expense account.

Today's beer is from Miroslaw, a small town 150km north of today's stage between Wroclaw and Wieliczka.

Komes Baltic Porter ($6.50)

This is a Baltic Porter, which is a smooth, dark, highly-alcoholic lager made with darkly roasted malt. This is a style of beer that originated in the Baltic states, copying the style from Imperial stouts of English origin. It is one of the most popular dark beers of Polish breweries. Interestingly, this one has a funny little guide on the back telling you how the flavor changes if it is aged, but there is no obvious indication of when this bottle was brewed, so it's not very helpful.

Pours dark brown with auburn higlights. The foam has a compact mousse, not much head. The nose is sweet, with roasty caramel and raisin, perhaps light oak? The palate has a lovely mouthfeel with chocolate, coffee, and dark cooked fruit with a dry, hoppy finish. Despite all the rich flavors, the body is only medium and there is a bitter, hoppy finish that keeps it balanced. It is opening nicely in the glass. The 9% alcohol is totally hidden on the palate.

Really good...definitely light on it's feet for a booze bomb porter.

(this is always important in cycling)
So we can translate w/kg to pump/kg
So a little guy needs to pump less since he weigh less.
All the great riders have some freak pump genetic
You're basically watching a sport to see who has the best pump ability but then they dope and use motors so it's even more retarded to watch it
You might as well just measure their VO2 max then weigh them and declare the winner

his palmares are very interesting because he has a distinct lack of "B tier" wins; all his victories are either the ones you mentioned or "C tier" races like Benelux, Algarve etc. He has never won a [real] WT one-week, and has never won against Pogacar or Vingegaard in a real race [correct me if im wrong]. Most riders of similar palmares [even when said palmares are stretched over a 15 year career] at some point were arguably the best in the world at GC/classics/sprinting. See Cav, Ulle, MVDP etc etc.

Call it misfortune of being in the Vinge/Pog era, but his palmares is built upon farming all the races that they don’t do. Also I don't value TT wins that much, especially when his competition is just Ganna [and FOSS].

It has nothing to do with pogi/jonas, he lost a duaphinée to roglic, a paris nice to mateo, a Suisse to Skeljmose. For some reason he'll show up 3-4kg overweight in most of the races I guess he has a hard time eating properly.
The thing is he's not that strong in term of pure w/kg, but he is extremely aero which make his solos very hard to counter in one day races. Also he had decent lucks for some of his big wins (Liege without pogi, grug in WC + cavagna)

he would probably have won the tour and lombardia in 2024 alone without pog/jonas, it'd be difficult to say exactly what else he would/could've won because of how much it would change things but he would at the absolute least be in conversation as the best GC rider in the world. even if he's not consistent he's shown that he has the on-paper potential to show up to a GT and be by far if pog/jonas dont show up

>Demi Vollering had the final say after she was accused of living in a 'gilded cage' during the Tour de France Femmes, refuting suggestions she is 'a drama queen' and that the criticism comes from those who do not know her.
>Vollering has been involved in a number of fallouts in the Netherlands national team and left SD Worx-Protime for FDJ-Suez after a series of issues in 2024, including the polemics after her crash during the Tour de France Femmes.
>"I’m being hunted for this, I think a little bit, especially in the Netherlands," Vollering said.
>"I have the feeling I have this stigma around me that I’m a little bit of a drama queen, or how you want to put it. But in the end, I think, if you ask my teammates, they will always say different.
>"I think it’s also someone who doesn’t know me who says something like this. I cannot blame him [Van Emden], because he doesn’t know me, so he can say that from the outside."
>Vollering finished 3:42 behind Pauline Ferrand-Prévot. She will now take a break, but she promised to work to improve for the 2026 Tour.
>"Now we need to recover and rest, and then we go back to the drawing board and see what we can do better for the coming year," Vollering said.
>"It's not only being a good climber that makes you a good rider. You need to have every kind of skill, and this Tour de France was maybe more for the pure, pure climbers. We don't know what's next year, so never say never."
>"Everything went really well as a team, so I'm really proud of that, and at this moment, that makes me very happy."

>"Everyone prepares the way they want. For Roubaix I was much heavier because I knew I needed to be heavier to have power on the flats,” Pauline Ferrand-Prévot responded when questioned over her preparation for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. “For this race I knew I had to climb for one-and-a-half hours over the Col de la Madeleine [on stage eight] and I tried to make the most of it. You need to adapt to the terrain you have.
>"I also know that this shape that I have now I will not keep forever. It’s just for the Tour de France. It’s also my job to be the best as possible. We know this is an endurance sport, and to climb you need to have a [high] watts per kilogram. I made the choice, I worked hard for it.
>"I don’t want to stay like this – I know it’s not 100% healthy,” she continued. “But we also had a good plan with the team’s nutritionist and everything is in control. I didn’t do anything extreme and I still had power left after nine days of racing. It’s a tricky subject because you have to find the limit, but I also know I can’t stay like this forever. It’s the choice I made."
>The 33-year-old admitted that she had noticed the influx of comments about her appearance on her social media: “I had quite a lot of complaints on Instagram about it, people saying I was not a good example for young people. But I also think parents should educate their kids and say to them, ‘Pauline is like this because she’s preparing for the Tour de France – it’s not forever’. Everyone needs to understand that it’s also our job to be the best as possible. I just do my job the best way I can and that’s it.”
And they want us to "femmes" seriously. This concerns do not exist in male cycling, Pogacar has lose and gain weight every year, and this is taken for granted as a normal way to achieve peak perfomance. But when use exactly the same tactic, there are "concerns".

Female athletes not having periods is a given, no matter the sport. Perhaps expectations should be lowered, instead of marketing female cycling as equivalent to male cycling, if women are just more fragile. Yes but that gives me more content to explain how Anglo's are morally superior, so it does mean pets. Maybe we'll even slip in there the chronically disabled in the true 'glo media fashion. But still, with pig or cows they just get slaughtered with a bolt gun then processed for whatever they are going to use it for. So why would they give a live creature? Cows don't get 'old' the milk cows stop being useful so are slaughtered for dog food and glue. Pigs are raised for death, equally the breeding pig is then killed for animal feed.

So I don't know where they're getting the idea people just have spare unwanted animals they can feed to lions in the most barbaric fashion possible. That is psychotic medieval tier.

Absolutely rooting for him, I feel him deeply. He said sometimes it's hard walking up the stairs. I understand that. Even if you force yourself on the bike you just can't push the pedals. I'd do 15 minutes on the trainer and just completely give in, and it'd be totally exhausting.

Then when you feel like you can't push yourself and do what's needed, what is the point? Why settle for less if you can't reach your best? What is the point when you can't string a good year of training, or even a month? People take the piss but this is probably the worst illness you could possibly have because you're physically capable but the brain just will not allow it. You can't enjoy hobbies, you can't make any progress in anything. And then people just cannot fathom the situation and accuse you of laziness and weakness. You are weak in those states but it doesn't define you, you are what you are at your best. He is probably a very strong, dedicated person who's been inflicted with a hellish disorder.

>perfectionist

And this proves that, but it took me years to realise that striving for perfection and 100% is not realistic for me and then you begin to improve enormously and see small things as goals, like my meagre 300w for 10 minutes. That was elating because I hadn't trained in a year and just got back on the bike. He is on the right track. Chasing the small wins and doing what you can. I wonder if he's medicated, I'd assume so. I wonder what medications. They should get him on ADHD meds to stim him up top function even with a lower mood.

I was miserably depressed for a week now and drank 2 weak cider last night and forced myself out this morning. Feel miles better. God speed to him, he will make it. Just shows his strength of character to be in the shitter and then still try to emerge, publicly too.

To decathlon would be an incredible move for the spectacle. I was super impressed with them this tour and with a strong rider behind them they're a real force to be reckoned with. Gall is obviously not that guy who can fight for a podium. They managed the race well and took their chances to pull. They disappointed without a stage win but their GC riding was impressive to have so many riders in the final climb on a few occasions.

I sense there is a lot to be gained by riders in that team too so it's unsurprising to see them try 100%

The whole reason the tour was a success was because of their sprinting success and the win on ventoux. Remco TT win was nice, sure. It'd be a magical tour if he finished top 3 but he is not reliable enough. Saying that, how could they have done better without Remco? That is -1 stage already and he has a 25% chance of actually getting top 3 I'd say. Losing Remco is a flat loss in this regard, they cannot top this tour for a long time.

>"We are finalizing talks about one of the biggest world events - Giro d'Italia "Grande Partenza".
An event that changes the country that hosts the start, puts it on the world map in terms of tourism and recognition as a destination. It is one of the biggest sporting events," said Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh at a briefing at the Council of Ministers today.
>This concerns the start and three special stages of the cycling tour of Italy. This year, Albania is hosting them. Borshosh specified that next year, three stages will be held in Bulgaria, which will cover dozens of municipalities, crossing almost the entire country. He said that the date, routes, stages and budget are still subject to discussions, but the benefit for Bulgaria will be enormous.
In unrelated Bulgaria news, UCI sanctions two personnel of Bulgarian cycling federation, for corruption related offenses.

I dunno, from intervals I guess my ftp was 250 in May, but since then I lost 9kg, so my w/kg is way better now although I lost a lot of sprinting power. I could do 1.4kW then, now I don't know if I can push 1.1kW
still shit overall
I could maybe put more hours during the week and do a cheeky extra short ride on weekends but it's hard with work and family
still have at least 9kg to lose, so we'll see how this goes
also I noticed this ftp test was a bit misleading since I was really fatigued, I couldn’t even hit 175bpm while in a recent past I could do 20+min at 180+

If time is an issue but health is a major consideration you should get weights to do squats and deadlifts. 2x gym sessions a week lasting 30-45 minute. Especially with age and muscle loss. If you struggle to hit 1100w thhat is a lot of weak muscle and you'd see significant results on the bike with stronger muscles. Like 4 sets 6 reps of compound lifts for 3 months. As long as you ride more than you lift you'll make a lot of positive gains for cycling. When I went hard with weights a few years ago my 60 second and under performance was great but I couldn't ride 20 minutes without exhaustion.

Muscle also will have huge effect on BMR so you naturally burn more calories, with or without exercise. Even 10 minutes session after riding does the job in terms of squats.

Most people don't buy them because of how much of a hassle it is.

But if you register it as a company vehicle then it suddenly becomes financially viable.

Actual construction workers and mechanics will almost always drive a van. But small business owners will get one of these to soothe their ego and failed marriage.

These vehicles say so much about the driver. They have them here too. It isn't even functional like a van because it's open so there are a lot of things you can't transport, then you have to hitch it all down etc. It is never a utlity vehicle, they're all in mint condition or generally dirty but not used like how vans have dents and scuffs. I cannot stand these cunts. THe same sort of cunt who will buy an X5 or range rover. These things are actually bigger than vans, have worse visibility, take up more space and have less functionality. And more often than not, I'll see an X5 or range rover carrying a single person; the driver.

It is the most obnoxious vehicle you could possibly buy. From an environmental standpoint it is an enormous amount of meterial and electronics, tyres are huge, loud and rubber wear is a driving cause for higher co2 in urban areas. They always drive like massive cunts too, safe bet they'll close pass or do some other reckless action. Just insufferable. The cringe people have when they see others own these. They think it's status but it's a "I'm a cunt" signal to everyone else. So many nice alternatives that you could get and not look like a total knob. But they are who they are, knobs, and it's better they drive around in a knobmobile so they're easily identified. Neighbour has 2 of them.

Anonymous United Kingdom No.150118612 [Report]
There needs to be less vehicles on the road and people should be encouraged to rent at sensible prices. People do not need these vehicles, it's living in excess which we should frown upon. I like the japanese method where if you cannot prove you can park it, you can't have it. Every vehicle is then smaller and more manageable. More speed restrictions, even on the cars themselves. No one needs to accelerate fast, drive over the speed limit etc.

Cars also must have cameras and also crash prevention sensors to protect the pedestrians and cyclists. Any reckless driving toward pedestrians and cyclists should be treated as assault or intended assault. There is zero excuse for a close pass that could result in death or serious harm, ever. My area will give out a 'warning' to the driver. That is no deterrent. North West police trialled instant 6 points and fines and apparently the locals say it is significantly safer to ride through that area and in fact the NC's have been hosted there a few times now due to their commitment to cycling. I am so sick of cagies.

proper day out berts. first etappe is done, tomorrow kind of the same again, 200km 1900vm. might not sound like much but with a 23kg gravel bike that was borderline not doable. scenery today was nuts though, will blogpost pics later

At least it seems like he'll be picking up more commentating.

Always liked him. Kind of a choker, but he is relentlessly handsome with that boyish look. Broke my heart many times, especially when that stupid motherfucker Nibali was "co-captain".

I actually knew her because she was the best friend of a relative of mine
leaves 3 kids behind iirc
bit strange that I rode my bike very close to where she lost her life run over by a cagie, only 2h before
