NHK Preview for the opening game
>The opening game will be between Soseikan High School from Nagasaki and Komatsu Otani High School from Ishikawa.
>Soseikan's ace pitcher, Shota Morishita, started all five games in the provincial tournament and pitched consistently, allowing five runs in 35 innings with his 149 km/h/92mph fastest straight ball.
>He also scored the first run in the first inning in all of his starts. The team hopes to take the lead and take control of the game, and to defend the lead with a solid defense led by the pitching staff.
>Komatsu Otani's captain, Tadashi Tanishi, is the mainstay of the team and the mainstay of the batting lineup. He is one of the best hitters in the tournament and was the No. 3 hitter in the summer Koshien Tournament last year as a second-year player, and also participated in the training camp for Japan's under-18 national team candidates in April this year.
>In the provincial tournament, he led the batting lineup with a batting average over 50%, two home runs, and eight runs batted in, all of which were tops on the team. In the finals, Tanishi led the way in the closing stages to catch up from a three-run deficit, and he will be looking for an opportunity to win with his characteristic tenacity.
>>150104815i wrote up my own summery oops
Soseikan (創成館) is a private school from Nagasaki Prefecture. The team has reached Koshien eight times in total, five in the summer and three in the spring. Their best performance came in Spring 2018, when they reached the quarterfinals before losing to powerhouse school, Chiben Wakayama. Their most recent appearance was last summer, where they were eliminated in the second round by Cinderella story team, Taisha. While not traditionally known for producing pro talent, Soseikan has developed three NPB players, all drafted within the past five years.
Key player: Shota Morishita (森下翔太) #1 is a 3rd year pitcher and the ace of Soseikan, as well as a 2025 draft candidate. Though he's quite small at around 170 cm (5'7), he preformed very well in the Nagasaki qualifiers. Morishita pitched 35 and 2/3rds innings, allowing just 3 earned runs for a 0.76 ERA, while striking out 42 and giving up 21 hits (10 of which came in the final game). In the final matchup, he pitched all 10 innings in a 4-3 tiebreak victory to lead Soseikan to Koshien.
Media ranking: B
Komatsu Otani (小松大谷) is a private school from Ishikawa Prefecture. This will be Otani's fourth appearance at Koshien, with their last appearance being summer 2024 where they made it to the 3rd round. That was also the farthest they've ever gone, with their only other 2 appearances (1985, 2021) both being first round loses. Otani narrowly won the final Ishikawa qualifier in a dramatic 10th inning tiebreak 8-7.
Key player: Tasai Tona (田西称) #5 is the captain and third baseman, as well as a prospect for the 2025 draft. He’s also played for Japan’s U-18 national team. A power hitter, Tasai has racked up 24 home runs in his high school career. In this year’s Ishikawa qualifiers, he went, 10-for-18 with 4 walks, a .556 batting average, 8 RBIs, and 2 home runs.

NHK preview of the games
>The first game will be played between Tottori Johoku High School and Sendai Ikuei High School from Miyagi, which will be participating in the tournament.
>Tottori Johoku has a strong batting lineup that scored 13 runs in the regional tournament final. The team is led by No. 1 hitter Shori Taniguchi, who hit .389 in the regional tournament, and No. 3 hitter Soto Takagaki, whose batting average exceeded 400.
>Sendai Ikuei is led by their ace left-handed pitcher, Youdai Yoshikawa. He pitches with a crisp breaking ball mixed with a powerful fastball (up to 147 km/h), and in four games at the regional tournament, he pitched 20 innings and allowed only 2 runs.
>Pitching by Yoshikawa will likely be the key to victory.
>>150110971Tottori Johoku (鳥取城北) is a private school from Tottori Prefecture. This will be Tottori Johoku's 11th appearance at Koshien with their last appearance coming last summer where they lost in the first round. Tottori is the smallest prefecture in term of population, so qualifying out of their is not the most impressive achievement. In fact, there were only 23 schools participating in the qualification for Koshien, the smallest out of anywhere in Japan. Tottori Johoku have never made it out of the 2nd round at Koshien, and in fact they have only won 2 games at the tournament ever.
Key player: Yuto Tanaka (田中勇飛) 3rd year pitcher and 2025 draft candidate. He pitched 21⅓ innings in the qualifiers, allowing just 3 earned runs on 9 hits while striking out 26. His stats are a bit questionable since he has only pitched against other Tottori shitter teams but we'll see how he does.
Media ranking: C
Sendai Ikuei (仙台育英) is a private school from Miyagi Prefecture. Sendai Ikuei is the premier school from Miyagi, and one of the best in Japan. Ikuei have made 56 Koshien appearances easily the most in Miyagi Prefecture and one of the most out of any schools in Japan. They finally managed to win their first title in Summer 2022 after coming close many times before, their most recent appearance was in Summer 2023 where they were the runners up losing to Keio in the finals.
Yudai Kawajiri (川尻結大) is a 3rd year catcher and 2025 draft prospect known for his power and defensive skills. He’s hit 17 home runs over his high school career and has a quick pop time. In the qualifiers, he had a slightly underwhelming showing by his standards, going 5 for 16 with 5 walks, a .313 average, 2 RBIs, and no home runs.

Holy moly. Is that why there's barely anyone in the stands?
>>150111430yeah the weather is a factor but also it's the first round and it's 8:40am on a wednesday rn
>>150111430They are on Nishiomiya, Hyogo, its on Great Osaka but not necessarily Osaka
Still is hot there, it is 31C right now (as
>>150111448 mentioned is not even 9am yet) and max today is 35C
Overall is very hot in Japan right now, some cities in Saitama and Gumma went to 41/41.5 for the first day ever and almost hit 42C for first time ever
sendai ikuei is kinda running away with it
i liked this squeeze
>>150111566Opposite team started to struggle a bit nut it seems that recoveted
Now its a batter if their team batting will able to catch up or not
>>150111603first hrr of tournament for ikuei
>>150111639it's annoying they didnt show a full replay of it
>>150111682They seem to be a bit rough on critical production values like that.
>>150111697could also be the pace of play, the next batter was in the box so fast.
>>150111724Sure, but that's a factor under their control.
>>150111724>>150111736ya probally is beacuse off the pace fo play, production priotizes live play over replays
still have a lot of buzz about koroyo on sociall media
>>150111864i heard basically every starter was involved
>>150111931it looks that people are assuming that federation has done notthing yet beacuse koroyo directoor is vice president of local hiroshima federation branch
its becoming more and more of a mess
I also heared that has some complaning about the 6th inning pause beacuse it could had been causing players to have cramps

second game preview
Kaisei (開星) is a private school from Shimane Prefecture. They've made 14 appearances at Koshien, but like neighboring Tottori Johoku, have never advanced beyond the second round. Their last Koshien was in Summer 2017, where they lost 9–0 in the first round. In fact, you'd have to go back to Summer 2011 to find their most recent win at Koshien. Shimane, much like Tottori, is a small, rural prefecture with a small population and few schools, so qualifying isn’t as gruelling as in larger prefectures. That said, Kaisei absolutely dominated the local qualifiers this year, they won the final 26–2.
Key player: Matsumoto Shichito (松本七斗) #13 – 2nd year catcher. While it’s hard to single out a true “key player” on this squad, Matsumoto deserves credit for a massive performance in the final, going 5-for-6 with 8 RBIs in that 26–2 blowout. (especially since he's only a 2nd year)
Media ranking: C
Miyazaki Shogyo (宮崎商) is a public school from Miyazaki Prefecture, making its 10th appearance at Koshien this year. They also qualified for last summer’s tournament but were eliminated in the first round. Their best performance came way back in Summer 1964, when they reached the semi-finals. They also qualified in 2021, but were forced to withdraw before their first game after several players caught covid. Interestingly, Miyazaki Shogyo has 767 students, but 533 of them are girls, meaning there are only 234 boys to field a baseball team from. The baseball club has 53 members, so nearly a quarter of all the boys at the school are in the club.
Key player: Yukiya Hidaka (日高有希也) #3 – 3rd-year utility player and leadoff hitter. Hidaka batted an impressive .524 (11-for-21) in the qualifiers, driving in 3 RBIs. Miyazaki don't really have any notable draft candidates, they even have a few 1st year players in the lineup.
Media ranking: C
>>150112508NHK prreview
>The second game will be played between Kaisei from Shimane and Miyazaki Shogyo from Miyazaki.>Kaisei has the highest team batting average among the participating schools at .430. Seijun Mochida, the No. 3 hitter, hit .630 with two home runs in the provincial tournament.>Miyazaki Shogyo is known for its traditionally strong defense. Through repeated practice for close games, they won four out of five provincial tournament matches by a single run. Catcher and captain Tomoya Mizutani leads the team.

Hang on a second. If there's an Okinawa tournament which determines that only one Okinawa team can make it to Koshien, how did two make it in the spring? Am I a huge chungus retard?
>>150114355spring uses a different system where more than 1 team can make the tournament
summer is pure 1 school per prefecture (expect for tokyo and hokkaido who get 2)
>>150114379more than 1 team per prefecture*
>>150114379does Hokkaido get two just because it's physically larger? that's retarded, it can't be hard to have the two hokkaido regional winners just play each other.
in case you wonder why they are starting to do thsose those between games breaks and why
>>150113831 posted this, this why
>>150114424>does Hokkaido get two just because it's physically larger? yes, i guess they think it would be hard for schools (especially public schools) to travel from hakodate to wakkanai or wherever
i actually think they should make osaka a 2 school prefecture because currently we have a 49 team tournament which means some schools get a first round bye, if it was 50 i'd be even
>>150114472in some years they split osaka in two but only when they give extra spots for the tournament
Tokyo tournament is better than Koshien anyway. The best baseball manga (Cross Game) doesn't even get to Koshien
There's probably 50 schools in Tokyo better than the best schools in bumfuck Akita or Tottori or some shit.
I'm gonna eat my food and watch The Batman vs. Dracula while I wait for the next game.
just ordered mcdonalds on uber eats. feel bad for the delivery guy but fuck going out in this heat
anyway tell me about the next two teams, should I be rooting for akita or okinawa?
>>150114542so why they has not maneged to win tokyo and why tokyo hasnt won koshien in 15 years whlle Akita maneged to a 2nd place?

>>150114861japan bro. uber eats is bikes and scooters. my dude was on a scooter so that's good anyway. still it's 37 degrees here now so still it's gotta suck
>>150114850Kanaashi Nogyo (金足農) is a public school from Akita Prefecture. (Note: the school is commonly referred to as Kanano) Kanano have been to Koshien 11 times which is very admirable for a public school. Even better, they made the finals once in Summer 2018 where they lost to Osaka Toin. Their last appearance at Koshien was in Summer 2024 where they lost in the first round. Notable alumni include Yakult Swallows pitcher Yasuchika Ishiyama, as well as Kōsei Yoshida, who led the team’s 2018 Cinderella run and is the older brother of their current ace.
Key player: Daiki Yoshida (吉田大輝) #1 – 3rd year pitcher, 2025 draft candidate, and the ace of the staff. He was very dominant throughout the qualifiers, throwing 34 innings while allowing just 1 earned run for a 0.26 ERA. He gave up 20 hits and struck out 26. His brother, Kosei, pitched for Kanaashi during their 2018 run. Daiki has said he hopes to surpass his older brother.
Media ranking: B
Okinawa Shogaku (沖縄尚学) is a private school from Okinawa Prefecture. They're the premier team from Okinawa, having made it to Koshien 19 times, the most out of any school from Okinawa. They're one of only 2 Okinawa schools to have ever won the tournament, they did it twice in Spring. (1999 and 2008) Their most recent Koshien appearance was this past Spring where they got knocked out in the 2nd round by the eventual champions, Yokohama. They have a few NPB players most notably, 1x NPB All-Star pitcher Nao Higashihama, who plays for the SoftBank Hawks. (Actually Nao was the winning pitcher for Okinawa Shogaku when they won in Spring 2008)
Key Player: Ryosuke Sueyoshi (末吉良丞) 2026 Draft Candidate 2nd year LHP with a very strong arm. His fastball can hit 150 km/h (93 mp/h) although normally it's around 140–148 km/h (86–92 mp/h) He started 4 games in the Okinawa qualifiers and posted 29 innings, a 0.31 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts

>>150115213Far out. I want to try living in Japan but since I'm not a university graduate nor do I have a high school certificate (working towards GED) I'm left with very few options. I've been mulling over opening a business, but that would require a lot more thought and planning.
>>150115219we did, last summer too iirc
but are all the japanese flags in here the same person? i know there are multiple leafs here
>>150115219Yeah, he was my guy. Apart from the time he told me he was going to get some beer from the convenience store and then never did.
>>150115219He may show up later assuming it is
>>150105438
btw okinawa shogaku's pitcher, ryosuke sueyoshi has 9 strikeouts through 4 innings
koshien is good and all but I would never shave my head just because of muh tradition
>>150115230>but are all the japanese flags in here the same person? i know there are multiple leafs hereThe burger in Japan is different than the Japanon we had.
Yeah there's a few different leafs and hues
>>150115259You're Mexican, you may as well, it's not like you can look any worse. And I mean that in the least offensive way, I fuck with Mexicans.
>>150115261>The burger in Japan is different than the Japanon we had. i know, but i was asking if in THIS thread are all the japanese flags are the same person
>>150115259some schools stopped forcing kids to shave their head
>>150115268nah fuck that shit, I dont have shit hair like most of the japs, also japs can be very autistic about the most stupid shit and shaving the head is one of them, I mean it could be worse just take a look at some of the bullshit that happens in sumo
>>150115273>some schools stopped forcing kids to shave their headgood
>>150115284>I dont have shit hair like most of the japsYou can shit on their teeth as much as you want, but their hair? I feel like it's pretty good in general, no?
>>150115226It’s all right. Better than living in the US, now anyway. But things can change fast, just look at the US. So who knows
The whole shaved head Mexican thing is more an LA Chicano thing desu
>>150115305Yeah, but I'm sick of living in Australia.
>>150115306dunno about the LA only thing but I had a taco friend who had to leave the kunt because his family had the opportunity to live in arizona or texas, dont remember which one and in less than 6 months my friend had the cholo look kek, shaved head, mustache and everything
this game has been an absolute pitchers duel
>>150115332Kek that's funny.
I suppose it's a Southwest US thing these days. None of the Mexicans I know (East Coast) look like that at all
>>150115330Australia doesn't seem like that bad a place to live
>>150115344Need someone to SCOR SOME FACKIN RUNS
>>150115349Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a lot of good things about Australia, but it's getting more expensive and dangerous every day, and it doesn't help that our government refuses to actually punish anyone outside a slap on the wrist. I don't see a future for myself in Australia, there's nothing for me here.
>>150115393>it's getting more expensive and dangerous every dayso is Japan, lol. not as dangerous yet but with more immigration on the horizon increases in crime, etc. are pretty much inevitable
okinawa shogaku get their first hit in the 7th inning
and we have a run, finally
>>150115409>more immigration on the horizonYeah, I heard that JET is going to start accepting Indians. R.I.P. My condolences.
>>150115409>so is Japan, lol. Also, I know, but at least you can still afford to live by yourself in Japan, that's impossible in Australia, I'll never be able to live by myself.
okinawa bros, we fucking won! (well, not yet)
how suddenly everyone started talking about hairw lol
also koshien looks more filled now, it looks that people wanted to check the night session more than morning (proobally due the heat)
>>150115440>I heard that JET is going to start accepting Indiansyeah, that's gonna be interesting. I give it two weeks before multiple indian ALTs get busted for trying to see their students bobs and vagene
kanano player strikes out on a check swing with a runner on 3rd
>>150115489What was he thinking?
>>150115512okinawa shogaku advance
>>150115512>What was he thinking?probably something in japanese....
final game of the day will be
Naruto (鳴門) - Tenri (天理)
will start in 30-45 mins
>>150115560tenri is lame, they're always in there. let's go naruto
>>150115560Naruto is my favourite anime, so I'm going for them.
>>150115562the school is also affiliated with some weird cult/new religion shit if that bothers you lol
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenrikyo
>>150115577oh nice, another reason to hate them. fuck all those stupid cults in this country
That cut out of the interview was so random
>>150115577its kinda a type of shintoism/buddism than a usual cult desu
at elast i had not heared any bad things about them
also fun fact Tenri city is the only city in japan that have a religion-based name
so it has more ccompany-related cities than religious city in japan
Naruto (鳴門) is a public school from Tokushima Prefecture. Naruto are currently the strongest school from Tokushima, considering the fact that they are a public school this is all the most impressive. Tokushima is a strange Prefecture as the strongest schools historically were always public rather than private. As for Naruto, they have been to Koshien 24 times and have even won once albeit all the way back in Spring 1951. Their most recent appearance was a 1st round loss in Summer 2022. Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters pitcher and 2024 NPB All-Star, Kono Ryuo, went to this school.
Key player: Tomoto Hashimoto (橋本朋來) #8 - 3rd year pitcher, ace of the staff. He pitched 21 innings in the qualifiers, allowing just 1 earned run on 9 hits while striking out 22. He's not considered a draft candidate.
Media ranking: C
Tenri (天理) is a private school from Nara Prefecture. A stereotypical powerhouse, Tenri has made it to Koshien 57 times and has won three times (Summer 1986, 1990, and Spring 1997). They have been remarkably consistent in qualifying for Koshien, attending regularly since the 1950s. Their most notable player is likely NPB Hall of Fame member Hiromitsu Kadota. The school is also controlled by the Tenrikyo cult/new religion (depending on your interpretation) which is pretty funny.
Key player: Shotaro Tomita (冨田祥太郎) #4 3rd year power hitting 2nd baseman. He had an impressive showing at the qualifiers, hitting 4 home runs in 5 games. He went 7-17 overall with 9 RBIs.
Media ranking: B
>>150115654nhk preview
>The fourth game will be between Naruto from Tokushima and Tenri from Nara.>For Naruto, attention is on batter 4, Soma Inayama, who has a batting average over .400 in provincial tournament, and batter 5 Tomoki Hashimoto, who hit .500 and will wear the number 1 jersey at Koshien. The key to scoring lies in whether they can get runners on base ahead of these two.> For Tenri, the offensive core is the leadoff duo of Shota Tomita, who hit four home runs in five provincial tournament games, and Tatsuya Ito, who batted .556. Their abilities to get on base will be crucial.
>>150115692as i had mentioned nhk had done a city showcase for both cities, since sp doesnt allow for audio, i will link the direct video links instead
